So whats the latest? Can the pre-facelift 5 series be retrofitted to allow use of BMW Connected Apps?

Any different between MY version and UK version? My F10 from UK can be retrofitted with BMW Connected Apps. Working fine now. I would suggest you check with local shop that do retrofit for BMW.

Can be retrofitted. I did it in my F10 528i with NBT.
