Guys, recently I booked a pre-reg new F10 520d from Quill. The SA said i can interchange the number plate with my old car as I'm gonna trade it in. Can that be done? Some others tell me not possible as this is already a pre-reg car. Anyone of you have done this?

im pretty sure that interchange can only be done with a new or unregistered vehicle.. cant interchange with a pre reg car..

Can if and only if the old car has no more loans.

Ok, cool...really don't like the simply random numbers registered by Quill.

Just to share..

If those Pre registered cars are already registered with rojak numbers, then only new numbers can be interchange to that car.

Old existing numbers on old cars cannot be interchange to another car that's already have a number.

Cheers..

Can be done. A bit complicated as it requires two transactions. The other party (aka surrogate) needs to buy your car and then sell it back. No loan easier.

yes im curious as well.. how is it possible.. please do share..

A bit complicated but basically a dealer has to "buy" the car from you cheap cheap and then sell it back to you. Along the way, a new number is introduced. I wanted to go through this method before getting my f10 but i had a loan which the dealer not willing to "buy" the loan.

affan.. are u saying when the dealer buys the car and a new number is put on it.. the original number from that car can go to another car that has already been registered?

Yes.. There could be a motorbike in the middle of this transaction. Not straightforward

Not possible as I just made interchange. Can only change with a new plate not registered. I interchange by purchasing a motorbike and swapped out the pre reg plate w a new plate tendered.

TimBach.....there is no way you can interchange numbers between 2 registered car. If you can, let me know.

From my understanding, the interchange is only possible if it involves your current registered vehicle with a NEW VEHICLE.
