I dont mind paying a reasonable service fee as the last thing i want to do during my time off is to queue up in JPJ office and stuffs.

But reasonable fee and rip off are 2 separate things. Just becareful of Q-auto in Sec14.

AB & Quill both quoted me the same amount (as mentioned by you) for the new reg number process for pre-owned/pre-reg cars..
hence dont think its only quill that is charging such rate... maybe market practice qua...
I always believe everything can nego wan.... if you accept, then deal closed....
personal experience was way-way better at quill compared to AB

My story... my AB SA quoted me 1.6k without pref number.
Since i have long off days,i go the DIY way.

1.Bought own number.(easy straight forward process.go,see at the board.pay the price-mine normal 4digits) number valid for 30days. Cost-RM210
2.Deal with motorbike shop, told them i wanted interchange without buying a motorbike.Cost about +-RM800. (this is to cover the depreciation of the bike which was registered under my name and will subsequently sold as a pre-reg unit for lesser price)
3.Went to Puspakom for interchange B2 inspection.Process took me about 3-4hrs. Cost-RM30
4.Obtained the LULUS Puspakom doc,now clear to bring the "e-daftar" registration documents of the bike, which by then kedai motor already e-register,and original vehicle reg card of your car to be interchanged. Cost - RM210
4.Voila.new reg card with your new number with a cross-reference to the old number, now at the "new bike" which will be sold as a pre-reg 0 mileage bike.

Total cost : 1.2k + some precious hours of your life.
If u don't want to do all the things i mentioned above, pay someone to do it.
I enjoyed doing mine though

definitely.its part of the 10 point inspection.hence i waited for the Puspakom lulus thingy before i proceed with the tinting.

Bro 2k should be pretty standard.. That includes runner fee + changing without needing a bike to swap (they will kao Tim) + everything else.

But u still have to pay for the # of ur choice (tender)

Which is why, if I want to preserve my car plate or get even a new car plate, my next car would be an unregistered or.... simply a new unit.

By the way, this helps a lot when I have the slightest thought of changing car!

but new or unregistered unit cost much more than the RM1k - RM2k cost of changing plate.

Interchange an existing plate with a new or unregistered unit will cost around RM 400 including the puspakom B2 inspection. But both new and existing unit need to go through inspection.

I mean a new car cost more. eg a new 5 series may cost RM350k. a recon unregistered 07 car may cost RM200k and a used 07 ckd cost RM180k. given same year "07", normally unregistered car cost slightly more (though u can enjoy lower finance rate and register a new plate instead of changing the no plate and incur RM2k)
