been there done that. serve 2 times as CM. Time for me to pass the baton to the others OM.

As least the club is in good hands. Those who know me will know that I be always around when you need a helping hand.

just an idea I got when I reading car Paultan.org car blog....

If I remember correctly, Paul Tan himself had a beemer. if not mistaken a 520d. Not sure if he still has it. Some of you might know better. Is it possible to ask Paul Tan a favour to help do a write up in his car blog on BMW Club Malaysia?

Would be good if he can post some of the TT and drive photo sessions to encourage people to join the club. At the same time, he can introduce this forum and create a link for viewers to click on to bring them to the forum.

There can also be a link for those interested to sign up as a member. Usually new members are very active especially if they are seeking for information. This will directly increase traffic and communication amongst the forum group.

Just my idea. What's your idea? if everyone contribute an idea, we may end up with at least 100 ideas. hahaha. Looking forward to read more ideas and thoughts from you on how to increase the traffic in this forum as well have more members join the club.

Yours Faithfully,
Danny

YF.. Autofreaks.com might be abit more receptive to the idea. I hear one of their editors is a big bimmer fan and regularly drives one to track days..

Got a message in my inbox. As promised, confidentiality is assured for one of our IDEA contributors :
To boost traffic flow we should encourage new members to join in. We can do this if the club can design n print up PREMIUM LOOKING business card containing the following information :
1. Forum address
2. Bar code when scanned bring you the forum
On the reverse side, a nice and warm message inviting the person to join our club and forum.
This requires minimal expenditure as business card printing is cheap plus you get quantity. Each person that comes for the TT is given a stack of these cards to assist to slip it on the driver side window. This can easily be done while walking to your car in a mall or anywhere a Beemer is located .
During jogging around your housing area is also a possibility. This is called targeted advertising. Just passing my idea.
Hi,

I am not an OM but i feel the above method may annoy certain drivers as it could be regarded as spamming. The car owner may just throw the card away or worst still, throw it on the floor. Bad publicity to the club.

As for ideas, have we thought of tying in with the bmw dealers (AB, Quill etc) where new car owners will be invited to be the OM of the club (first year fee waived)?

Also maybe to work with panel workshop to get discount for OM?

bmwcm can only tie up with authorised agent. this is one of the conditions that was set by bmw malaysia.

we actually did this during the early day in 2003 to 2004 when the club was relatively new.

nowadays with search engine, just typing bmwclub malaysia will have a few hits.

even you google my name will bring you to this forum. haha.

Jarance,

Sorry for not knowing, examples of authorized agents are?
Auto Bavaria (Glenmarie, KL, Sg Besi, JB) , Quill (PJ), Ingress (Puchong), Wearnes (Segambut), WheelCorp (Setia Alam), Tian Siang (Ipoh), Pendragon (Kuantan), Regas (Kuching).

Problem is the above cater for bmw still under warranty. Owner like us who have car above 5 years find other alternative.

Noted on the authorised agent for workshop.

How about handing out first year membership to new owners who bought from these authorised agents?

Also perhaps to have a special arrangement between the club and dealers where maybe a private area or function only for OM of the club. Perhaps this could encourage owners to join for such benefit. Also it may encouraged owners to return to dealers for servicing?

I am banging alot on dealers because an invitation from dealer to join the club makes it feel abit more exclusive.

Hi Lite Bulb,

Let the committee members decide on this. its a good idea though. Keep the ideas coming in. More the merrier.

To all others,

Feel free to share your thoughts on how we can make this forum more exciting. As highlighted above, if you would like to remain undercover, please feel free PM me. Cheers and happy weekend guys!

Another day, another weekend, another drive!

Wearnes already offered club members to use their facilities and cafe. That is what was relayed to me.
I am sure the CMs are working hard on building relationship with the dealers.

yes affan is right.

Another dealer we are actively working with is Quill Automobiles PJ. They are very receptive towards the club and we are working to get some additional benefits for OMs when they buy or service their cars there.
They are our sponsors too!

That's great news Affan & Beemerback

Can the CM start a thread which list all these benefits of membership? Tq

1) Another idea to promote loyalty could be free membership or reduced fees for those who are > X years that pay without fail every year. CM can decide how many years to gain this benefit.

2) Source for club vendors beyond KL/Sgor area so that other OM can benefit as well (I'm one of them )

3) For AD&D pls provide vouchers that can be used nationwide if possible (jusco, petrol, tesco)

My 3 ideas for the day. Trying to chip in for the betterment of the club. Cheers....

Produce exciting drive/event t-shirts - OMs & CGs can buy as many as they want. Good promo for the club and can raise abit of funds. This can potentially be outsourced, to free up CM's time & energy.

Limited edition annual official shirts can be reserved for OMs and their spouse/partner, on a +1 basis ie each OM n partner/spouse can hav 2 each only.

I would also suggest to send reminder memo to all OM that discussion on problem troubleshooting, knowledge, ideas and so on should be done through the forum.

Other means such as whatsapp groups can be used to coordinate meet-ups which do not require an archive for future references.

How well the memo is constructed will define its effectiveness.

Cheers

I second you M ;) to recap what was discussed in wassap group, I suggest CM to consider renewal shirt to new members and also those wanted extra for their spouse or own use. This not only will enrich our clubs but also not to segregate between new members and old members. With current practice you are creating a separate caste for old members against new members. Dont you think we should be seen as `one' ?

My 2 1/2 cent opinion :) cheers

My suggestion is to open the sale of any shirts with the Club logo to all BMWCM Official Members, including our now famous 2015 renewal shirt. Only that I hope we can limit the sale of the shirt to own use only and not to be distributed to non-members. So we as Official Members gotta support our elected CMs so that this suggestion can be implemented smoothly.

My request is for our CMs to deliberate on this and inform us on the decision.
