No one wants to go for spirited track driving??? With instructors to guide you as well?

If you're worried about wear and tear, the wear rate in Sepang is minimal IF u do not go gung ho unneccessarily. Tyre wear is OK. not tyre-eating surface. The now-gone Batu 3 track eats more rubber than Sepang.

Only 5 person signed up?? Looks like members here not really interested in driving. Oh Well! :dunno:

Alvin.....for those who has no commitments that weekend....

They drive not a UDM but a U.P.M. which stands for Ultimate POSING Machine! ke ke ke

Seriously - the throttle goes TWO direction. If you worry about wear on tyres - go slower-loh and I assure you, you will still learn! ( ie. smoothness, lines, braking, hand placement, steering work, car setup......aiyah I give too many freebies here oredi! )

See you track side!

Hey just wanted to share this bit of information...
Here is a clip of a track event went bad for several cars. This event is took place in the U.S. at a track called Poconos (east course). I've been on it and its had some off road experience but watching this is just scary.
How did this evo driver end up doing that is still up in question.

This are one of my major fears when attending a track event. Catastrophy can strike any time. But at Sepang, the track is wider and chances of disasters is limited as compared to smaller tracks.

would like to attend but will confirm at a later date.

Jules,
what does UDM stand for? I've heard it say many times but nave no clue. I'm new to the bimmer community. Personally, I'm an Audi guy myself.

I think you should state that tire and brake pad wear is part and parcel of track driving. "If you wanna play you have to pay". No cheap way around it. I like to play too, but sometimes can't afford to pay.

btw, you guys teach left foot braking for those that drive Automatic transmissions?

Redz4

We do not teach left foot braking in the initial stages. We may consider it at a later stage.

Aiyo! Dont post those accident video lar. Such things never happen in Sepang. Things like this only happens when one is a complete idiot & has something to prove. If you follow instructions & drive at your own pace, then not big effect on car, tires & pads. I have track my car for like 50 laps & i'm still on the same set of tires & pads.

Here's my take on the VIDEO.

- the track is pretty narrow and
- the cars are too tightly bunched up
- I dun dare think how close the next car was behind this video car cos
- if he/she lost it....which they came close too, the rear driver better have good reflexes.
- why the front car crashed....?
- I GUESS this was because the car had the outside wheel outside the track....
- and since they were THROTTLING FULL and going thru the gears
- the car snap sideways when BOTH wheels came back to the tarmac....
- YES, a LSD equipped car will have a better chance at recovering and should snap less....so I am saying, the car had no LSD.
- it was also very very stupid to stop the video in front of the wrecked cars! NEVER DO that.....if you want to assist, please park behind and a distance away too.
- stopping at an incident scene invite more disasters i.e. they get out and then get swipped by another passing car.
- best to drive back to pits and notify session to be red flagged and get the rescue vehicle out.

That's my 2 cents.

emm.. dunno if u remember the blue sti that went crashing the tyre walls on the first hpc event.. seeing the car lost control in my rear-view mirror is SCARY.. kept thinking what'd happen if he was in front of me..

anyways, this is not to deter any members from joining track days, but another reminder as to what jules have already said..

btw, go-karting got accidents as bad as real car aa? i think play kart is safer, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH cheaper and ull get to learn the principles more than your normal track driving.. anyone can comment? i believe hpc comes from the my-kart gang?

ha ha go-kart safer? think again....

I have seen broken ankles, collar bones, multiple skin rashes and plenty of completely written off karts....and yes, people get killed karting but thankfully not here.

Actually I just saw one beginner write off his new RM24K Tonykart last Saturday......even fully suited, he has skin rash along his right arm....his kart went turtle after hitting someone.

Btw, I saw the Blue WRX.....just after the crash....he would have done almost the same as the video and yes, lucky he and his gal were ok.

Speed needs common sense & RESPECT, and I mean at ANY speed.
