Yes there is a way
........
but only for DIY electronically and technically inclined motorheads

the pump has life cycles that emit waves, with each failing recoiling/coiling of the motor the signal will lessen, eventually it will just stop working at a certain wavelength magnitud

you can wire the pump to a device that will be able to measure the waves/frequency/magnitud.etc,etc, if you are adventurous, you could also limit the current so as to know exactly when the pump will fail, you could also set in a counter to count down the hours in its life cycle

Like TJ said, the pump efficiency deteriorates gradually and it would be difficult to detect without using the proper equipment.

i was given to understand that if fuel pump buzzes beyond the norm, like kinda extended, it cud b abt to fail shortly. Dunno if there's any truth innit.

I had my pump carput without any sign while driving, it just die off..lucky it was near my house. So push the car back to my house and later tow it to the workshop.

this only happens when a certain breed of cat that has a very high amplified magnitud of wavelengths that will severe of any EMF emmitting device and render it useless..... , if i'm not wrong the breed of cat is called felixes johanness anthracites......

please be make sure your fuel is not in red light. if in red light , make sure u park ur car in straight level, otherwise if is not level, when u start, if your fuel pump not enough tenggelam dalam minyak... sure tak lama...mesti kong. motor cepat panas. kalau cukup tenggelam dalam minyak, motor jadi sejuk n tahan lama. BMW has designed their fuel pump inside the petrol tank.

That's the external fuel pump for the M20.. For the 318i, the fuel pump is inside the tank beneath the rear passenger seat on the right.
