Hi

Just wanna share that i took delivery of my TiSilver 320d yesterday. Got it from Quill and my SA was so kind to fill up the tank with RM50 diesel. Still many many km before i need to do my first top up.

I played with the iDrive on the way back when stuck in traffic. Came upon split screen content and left screen got stuck in navi mode. Had to do quick google to find way to return it to other mode. I wonder who else share same experience?

Now the car has clocked in 140km, it's really tough trying to maintain rpm below 3k. How long should i wait before i can unleash the beast? 1k? 2k? Anyone can share experience on how your car is now after you had ignore the break in advice?

Have u checked the manual? If i still remember the rpm should be maintained below 2k for 2000km. It is stated in the manual. After that u can slowly rev the engine to the max.it may take another 500kms before u whack the car. After 10000kms engine will be bit noisy.and only after 20000-25000 kms u will get the true potential of the engines.u will feel much more lighter.(thats from my experience owning bmws).

Hey all, joined the bandwagon and got myself a 320D m-sport (Alpinweiss). Car should be collected on Monday or Tuesday and I can't wait. Always wanted a beamer and what better time to get it with the 0.88% interest promo, 3 years free service + warranty and the latest iDrive thrown in. Will probably end up modding the rims, grill and tailpipe as a start before getting enough funds for KW V2s and bluefinning it.

Exciting times lie ahead.

congrats to new owners matsheikh, ronnie, m3ngsta, willie! now the addiction to driving will begin - you'll find excuses to travel the long way to/from work and for opportunities to feel the torque (uphill, windy roads, traffic lights...haha).

on running in your engine - i'll add a few comments.

1. be sure to have a HARD driving portion near the end of the gentle run in period, to give your engine block the "experience" and seal up the piston rings properly. there's actually a school of thought where people recommend hard driving right from the start (see link). I agree with the theory, but remember - there are other moving parts besides the engine too (transmission, suspension, etc) which need to be run in..so a gentle start is good.

2. recommend to change out your engine oils and filter right after the run in period (2k kms or so). just to flush out any bits and pieces that have worn in.
3. all said and done, new engines these days are built to high tolerances, so compared to those from yesteryears, they are more forgiving when it comes to the running in program. so DON'T WORRY, take the time to observe a few steps, and enjoy the experience with your new car!

once again, enjoy!
