How are your 320d doing so far?

Hey guys. How are your 320d doing so far? Any major or minor issues, especially related to the transmission, engine, catalytics converters and etc?

Running a feedback poll, Paul? Would be interested to see the results, to get a feeler on what areas to look out for.
Mine's a Performance Edition, running currently at around 8000km's, no issues so far, minor or major. Engine oil changed at 2200kms.

Had this for a courtesy car when it launched. Really good except couldn't take the taxi-like sounds..

Mine's at 30k++, so far so good other than faulty rear light (changed twice under BSRI) and jerky gearbox which i encounter lately anyway will get the GB re-programmed tomorrow. Engine oil need to change quite frequently at 7~8K, engine will feel rougher after 10K.

Well after 8 months of ownership still enjoy every minutes driving it. Just love the 'surge' every time step on the throttle. Just my 2 cents :top:

Mine's Dec 2009 Paul. Done 31K km. Changed both the faulty rear lights within a few months of each other under the BSRI too like mikeyC. The rear tyres wore down very quickly (?due to the high torque)-changed the 2 rears to the same Bridgestone RE050 RFTs-they cost a bomb-almost 2 K each!!! Other than that no problems whatsoever! Am very happy I got the 320d, the drive and torque and fuel economy is amazing!

About 20k on the clock. Pre owned so I covered about half of it. Change the rear lights, sent in twice to get the door trims so stop it from squeaking, engine stalled once but so far so good, still figuring out the town diesel consumption. City center driving still getting 10.5 liters. which works out to about 650km per tanks. Sent in for diagnostic but yet to get the feedback.

Other than that have yet to check the rear tires for wear and tear. Other than that counting the days till I can own an X6. Its like 1500 days away. Waiting for it to go under 200k

Mine's 22k km after about 10+ months with the 177hp/350Nm version. Squeaky M-Sport door trims and musty AC smell fixed under warranty, both were there from day 1 of ownership. Like docray my rear tires are getting close to the tire wear bar, it'll last a bit more but not a lot. I haven't had any problems with the rear lights, still waiting for it to happen eventually. Engine does sound rough after 10k km but I don't rempit and it looks like I'm doing an oil change every 11-12k km if calculated by the OBC.

Minor issue with BMW Malaysia that their website didn't pickup my service even though it was done. Otherwise no issues at all mechanically.

Mine is abt 40k. So far no major problms except for cracking sound frm the side pillars. have to ask them to fix once a while. this seems to be a recurring problm. The car performnce and fc is consistant since i bought it in 2009. A very satisfying car indeed.

If referring to how our diesel would affect the BMW diesels, what about the E60 530d, and how the owners are coping with it? I suppose many would already be 4-5 years down the line of ownership.

dzuljazz says absolutely no problems with the diesel and he's had his 530d for quite a few years now even before Euro 2 was introduced.
Today the SKD F10 520d launched by BMW Malaysia at MR333K! Get one eggie!! Make us jealous!!

I wish I could! Near future perhaps! Would be quite a thrill leaving the other cars for dead with the immense torque. :4:

Paul Tan says the new 520d very well-priced, but no rear wheel active steering and four zone climate control-both which we don't need and the rear wheel active steering can be problematic, with all the complicated electronics.

I am driving a 2010 Performance Edition Model (177hp/350nm) and have clocked 23000km with the following problems;
1) Squeaky door panels (on both my front & rear left doors) which they cant settle even after their 2nd attempt to tape the doors
2) Gremlins started wrecking havoc on both my rear signal lights recently (@20,000km)
3) Water condensation on my right fog light which BMW refuses to change (haven't got the time to flood their phone lines with my comments yet)
4) Electronic seat that pumps up my side support (around my waist) deflates over time for the driver seat. Does not happen to my front passenger seat though
5) Jerky GB but after reprogramming, the car does not jerk especially upon take off
6) Musty AC fixed under warranty

Apart from the above, my car beautifully and consistently returns 700km for town drive and nearly 900km for outstation drive (for a tank of 55-56Ls) and I have a heavy right foot. As for the engine noise, pretty much got use to it and turning up the radio does help but love the sound of the turbos spooling when you drive through a tunnel with the windows down. Currently servicing at every 10000km and do notice that engine becomes rough when approaching 10,000km. Will change engine oil every 5000km from now. Still love the torquey engine and have problems adjusting back to petrol powered cars (unless its with big cc or turbo charged). To sum up: No regrets in switching to diesel. Only wishing for I-Drive, Diesel-Euro 4 or better, sunroof, L6 and twin turbos to make this car better

Just got back from my bar ( I don't own it, just treat it as a living room away from the living room ) and there was a 320D parked outside. Alpine White. Looked good, but still glad I got the SpaceGray...

Colour's an important thing, but far too personal.

On the way home, smoked one of them Z thingy's... cute aren't they?

Mine is now close to 34k km and so far no issues with the mechanical parts. I send for service every 10k km and only issues are the rear light, blown cigarette lighter fuse and the squeaky sounds from the pillars. I had recently changed to non-RFT's and the ride is much better especially within the 60 km/h to 110 km/h range. It is a solid, sporty daily driver :top:

They are using the same engine in the new 8-speed 5-series for around RM70k more than the 320d.
