I have spoken to GT Auto, after the group dyno run the other day with regards to my erratic air fuel ratio and how to gain more horsepower and torque. They have new service - ECU reflash/remap for Continental cars. The list of BMW cars supported is as at the link below:http://www.gt-auto.net/images/stories/2010/files/GTAFlashCarList.pdfGT Auto charges RM 2,800 per car. This includes:1. Dyno run - before to register base map / base horsepower and torque figures2. ECU flash 3. Dyno run - after mapping until dyno registers gain in horsepower and torque - this would also mean multiple numerous flashes in between. If we are able to get 10 cars, we will be able to get our ECU remapped for RM 2,500. Once confirmed, you would need to pay 50% deposit to GT-Auto to ensure no FFK. The sooner we can fill up the 10 space, the earlier that I can work out a schedule with GT-Auto.Let's see some hands...1.2.3.4....Some FAQs with regards to ECU flash..1. Can I use map from a other car to my car?No. This is because ECU flash is all custom for an individual car. The same map is never loaded onto another car even though they are sharing the same engine and platform. Even if they are still in stock form, every single car is unique.2. What is there a need to have the car mapped on dyno machine? The importance of having the car mapped on a dyno machine is to show that the gains in horsepower and torque is real and measurable - i.e. not butt dyno.3. What if my car did not register any power gain after remap? If the car is still using the stock map from manufacturer, then GT-Auto will not charge. However, if the car had been pre-loaded with other car's map, there will be 2 options going forward.Option A. To optimize current existing map, but if the base map is very bad such as the air/fuel is way out of place or the timing is overly aggressive, then it'll be more like trying to fix a problem first before even trying to make power. Usually, in this kind of scenario, it is better to start with a blank map, which brings us to option B.Option B. Put in the base map from the manufacturer and do a base run. Modification will be done from there. 4. How long does it take to flash my car's ECU?Flashing is fairly quick, but the whole process inclusive of dyno runs, before and after, is at least 1 hour. Some pictures of ECU reflash/remap in process..http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=290005&id=193126482007
