Future Detailing Clinics

  • Click here to become an Official Member of BMW Club Malaysia Download Form
although i am new here not like the sifus but i would nvr nvr pay for a detailing clinic, since its by a particular brand, some branding exercise. if the session is organized by lets say a bunch of dedicated fellas, teach the advanced methods (machine detailing, and others) then i would without a bat of an eye treat the fellas some makan and Teh Tarik, same with the culture @ Megs Malaysia Forum. the forum is just a tool. if the club incurs costs and would like to cover it, i suggest asking members to pay before registering next time around. that would benefit the club more instead of giving a free clinic.

The crux of the matter is who gets the GUTS and who gets the GLORY.
It's a no win situation until you clean up your backyard...
Nobody wants to lose face, just face it.
Draw the club's guidelines to all that you think will happen and you need to do your homework for this. No more drying dirty laundry in public view.
No more shaking legs. No more free lunches or rides, get it?
Buck up or ship out. No more glory unless it is DESERVED!
Get the house together before bringing out the ammo-less shotgun.
I think those who have paid up deserve their sens worth, or am I barking up a banana tree? You tell us please.

I would pay if all the proceed would be given to a charity organisation such as old folk home or ophanage or PAWS.

blue, black, pink, orange, green, brown, purple, white, yellow members can chip in by washing cars during the detailing clinic using the best sampoo.

The shop can sponsore the material, place, water, cloth etc and in return the forum can be use give the exposure or adverisement for the shop.

lee, your contribution to this forum is appreciated by forummer and members alike.

Lee,

Frankly, I don't know where XXX is coming from. What cost was incurred? In any case, what's the deal with this official and unofficial members attending. We clarified this matter right from the start when you were organizing the thing. My question is what was the club doing anyway? It took a dedicated detailing enthusiast like yourself to organize this clinic which benefited everyone and now someone is coming to tell you that in the future this might not happen since it cost the club money. I'm still curious to find out what cost was incurred as the clinic was conducted by Meguiar's Malaysia. And further on I read that the club subsidizes futsol games (correct me if I'm wrong) for a small group of members playing futsol at that point in time. Wassup with that?

Anyway, I'll probably be banned as I'm not an official member and I'm criticizing an official members opinion. So if you don't hear from me again you know what happened. :smokin:

Just my 2 sen. No offense meant. Don't ban me please. Even though I'm just an unofficial member I like to hang out here........

Detailing afficionados, please note, future detailing clinics or indeed other activities may not be free, since apparently, it costs the club some expenses.

So, this thread is to assess your feedback.

Would you pay for a detailing clinic, and if so, how much would you pay?

As XXX has pointed out, it costs money to run the club, so let's help out where we can. It's high time we return something to the community after all,

I am trying to assess whether I can help raise funds for the club by charging a fee for things like detailing clinic and such.

Other fund-raising activities could be :
  1. DIY Detailing - get some experienced forummers with tools, and show you guys the right technique, all for a small ticket fee
  2. Detailing TT - have a drink with fellow detailing freaks and get your car detailed at the same time, I can arrange for some discounts at a selected detailing shop; a small entrance fee will be charged
  3. Detailing Group Buy - group your orders to negotiate for discount; the club will take a fee of course
All funds raised will go toward the club.

Let's hear your thoughts.

Happy buffing.

There won't ban u la... I'm still here what.. :D All club matters are sensitive, especially when its brought up by forumer.

I tested the water and can summarize the following once forumer raise club matters:

1. U will be asked to pay up if u care (to know more) about the club because that give u "rights" to bring up "official" matters officially and have a vote to make a change.

2. if u talk more, they will ask you to become their President since u so pandai with all the suggestions and think can do a better job than the existing committee.

From now on, I will stay virtual.. and stay away from club matters and functions.. Kevlar jacket also won't help..

2. if u talk more, they will ask you to become their President since u so pandai with all the suggestions and think can do a better job than the existing committee.

It is only wright when you say that things are not run the wright way and you know how it should be run than do it. Dont talk only la bro. As i say talk no action no point. Since you can talk astroboy let see you in action la. Than we now are you better than the current bunch or just the same.

The subsidy BMWCM members get from such futsol or bowling games does even sum up to the "word" compensation for the hundreds or thousands RM that they have sacrificed in doing the activities like those trips, charities, meet ups, dinners, meetings and clinics that generated all the great threads for forumers to read and experience. Another example, the technical knowledge they gain from their meet ups or discussions through the people they met in their trip and even breakdowns, they learned from it and they share it here.

Many forumers do not incur costs. Some like those who take the time to learn technical knowledge and of course paid for it do share it here. That is good but many want to take rather than share. So they read and find some enjoyment and knowledge ... at what cost? May be their internet Cafe cost la. While these guys paid for gas, toll, expenses, parts and incurred time for it. All done out of passion for the club and for the love of BMWs.

If a member keep on sacrificing but get nothing from the club, then why should they be in the club? So play for Futsol is like a tiny gesture la. Don't subsidize also they would still play. But then again, these are small things la. Do you think members join the club to get subsidy for playing futsol or bowling ka?

But then if you do not like the club to spend on such things, then join the club and object la. Just my 2 cents. la.

Astroboy...you are making false summary la...

1) We are willing to sponsor people like you to be a member so that you the same right as ours to question official matters, have a vote to make changes. YOU... ESPECIALLY YOU was given the offer. So don't twist here and there la. You want or not. If do not want, then say I DID NOT WANT TO BE A MEMBER... just want to bull shit.

2) Yes, if you seems to be the right man for BMWCM. The man to lead us through. So we already want to pay for you membership and you have the caliber, why not you lead and change things for the better.

So why need all the kevlar jacket. We are not shooting, we are paying for your membership and be the president so that you can shoot us. We are the ones who will need a jacket.

Talk everybody can talk...why not do the job.

I think my bad la..

Same thing like people asking for more frequent TT... don't just ask, ORGANISE IT la! I would say the same. The best part is when u organise it, that person himself FFK  That's irritating.

It takes a lot of effort, dedication and time in running a Club, its very tiring, more so when effort not appreciated as you can never please every one la. When all u hear is suggestion from everyone but when ask for volunteer to carry it through, all cabut.. (I'm one of them.. :D)

Our weekly Friday Aman Suria TT is organised by RedBaron and as long as I can remember, he attended every one of them and not only that, he even stayed until the last member/forumer leave, be it at 4am. That's the dedication I'm talking about.

In a nut shell, look at it this way, they don't need ideas, they don't need suggestions, what is so good about suggestions and ideas when the person who presented it can't realise it. THEY NEED PEOPLE THAT CAN MATERIALISE IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS and of course to start with, pay the RM300 la...

Some more want to scrutinise them .. money also didn't pay.. :stupid:

Get it?!

Hi Planta, thanks for your good effort to show us those photos on works done on BMW repair. I am a great admirer of your posting. U even pay up the fee which many of us in KL fail to do. Shame on us.

But since u want me to decide now, I will tell u "NO! I DID NOT & DO NOT WANT TO BE A MEMBER!"

Reason: Its not my RM300 the club wanted. If not, those kind people would not be offering to sponsor me because they are plenty of RM300 around. The club needs people that can make things happen and I know I can't.

I will not and never have asked to see the Club's a/c, who's the committee, how the Club use the money, who gets to be the next President... simply not interested.

You can call me bull shiting if it makes u happy.. I couldn't be bothered.

Being a member does NOT means that you have to run for office. However, being a member can allow you to vote for people who you think is capable to run and manage the club.

Honestly, there are some official members who are "politely" ask to keep
quite when they are out of line.

This forum consists of forummers, official members, founding members and committee members.
Not all the works is done by the committees alone. In fact, most of the works
are done by members and forummers.

A few years back, I am just like you. Like to share idea, ask a lot question.
However, in the course of doing so, people also branded me as trouble maker. LOL

So don't be despair or discourage by some of the reply.

My suggestion is to show some "action" by participating in drives organised by
others. Get to know them in person. Most of them are actually quite nice people.

if you don't want to take lead of a "project", maybe volunter your help
in area where you are capable of handling. for e.g. if you are in the hotel
line, you might help the steering committee to get good rate to hold the function.

Sometime..Action speak louder than words.

and why do we do all this? because the love for the roundrel.

Mr Lee.. sorry for the off topic to your thread...

I'm cool..

thanks Jarance for sharing with us the above... I have proxies in the "inner circle", so when it comes to nomination and votes, I know my interest is very well represented... and this has nothing to do with the RM300.

I'm not a "drive" person.. MTB punya pasal... but in which ever area I can help, I am not as stingy as many would like to think.

For example... E60 member wanted to go for a drive out the city. I did some research and shared with all the possible destinations, time line, stops.. even though I can't attend myself. I know the drive will be interesting... I wish I can go. Some may say "Talk only ah? Pay RM300 la! Organised la! Be our President la!" That's how much respect the President is getting from the member.. :( At least that's the impression I get.. I might be wrong.

I think listening to ideas and suggestions is a good thing be it coming from members or forumers. Not all members are "smarter" while not all forumers are "stupidier" :stupid:.. so some may make sense for the club to explore while some may be too ambitious or ridiculous.. but whenever an idea or suggestion being brought up from a forumer, they risk being shot at by some members asking the forumer to pay up, then only talk.

Imagine what will happen when the Rakyat suggest that Tax should be abolish, then they get "Talk only ah?.. Pay Tax first la!.. U become our Perdana Menteri la! Come la! Ayam ah?" from the "inner circle"..

I have nothing to say .........

seech,

I think you better read thoroughly what i have written b4 you say anything,
where Im coming from is mentioned there in my first reply, Mr. Lee was getting all the glory for organising the clinic to which i think he truly deserves it, and he saying that all things in life are free wasnt exactly correct and thats where Im coming from (and if you didnt know this was a punt intended towards the club, it meant he need not pay RM300 to be a member and could still organise this clinic), but Im telling him it wasnt exactly free bcos money is use to run this forum and he used it to organise this clinic, but who pays for the running of this forum? THE CLUB as such it wasnt exactly free even if it cost RM0.0001 but did the Club get any glory, NO just more brickbats saying why it took a forumer to organise something like that and not the club...dont forget the club could have stopped him from organising it bcos he was using the clubs name to organise it...but the club allowed it bcos it was benefecial to all , do you think McG would have the clinic for you all if it was organised by a Mr. Ah kow from Petaling Jaya.
