so at the end of the day it was not free, it was at the expense of the club[/U].
Detailing afficionados, please note, future detailing clinics or indeed other activities may not be free, since apparently, it costs the club some expenses. So, this thread is to assess your feedback.Would you pay for a detailing clinic, and if so, how much would you pay?As XXX has pointed out, it costs money to run the club, so let's help out where we can. It's high time we return something to the community after all,I am trying to assess whether I can help raise funds for the club by charging a fee for things like detailing clinic and such.Other fund-raising activities could be :
  • DIY Detailing - get some experienced forummers with tools, and show you guys the right technique, all for a small ticket fee
  • Detailing TT - have a drink with fellow detailing freaks and get your car detailed at the same time, I can arrange for some discounts at a selected detailing shop; a small entrance fee will be charged
  • Detailing Group Buy - group your orders to negotiate for discount; the club will take a fee of course
All funds raised will go toward the club.Let's hear your thoughts. :rock:Happy buffing.

Why should we pay the club when in actual fact all these useful events should be organized by the club or it's committee instead of by a normal forummer like you Lee ???? I disagree to pay the club a single cent.

aiyo mr.lee...dun like that la...I never said now have to pay mah...you say is free mah I just wanted to let you know it wasnt exactly free.
My reasoning is to let everybody know that the club also contributed something,
so they cannot always say the club do nothing, when in actual fact all this small behind the scene thing they dont notice...and then say join the club for what no benefit also.

DY

did we stop Lee from organising it, we didnt...did we ask you all to pay? we didnt. You some more got free detailing on your car...when we could have put a stop to it and say only Official members car can be chosen as the show car..did we stop it...? NO...

FYI for some one to organise something under the club banner, permission is needed from the club committee first...so at the end of the day it was the club that gave the go ahead...but at the end of the day the organiser is the hero..and the club didnt do anything...life is so fair.

IMHO, the club hasn't charged of the members for anything that has been organised, ie: Sapura Workshop Clinic, & etc...

As I am organising a drive to Phuket, also been advised not to inflate anything for the benefits of the club. Members just pay what will be charged by the hotels & restaurants. The extra benefits from sponsors will be given back to the participants also, the club does not keep any of benefits from the sponsors.

I fell that the organisers have contributed their effort, money, time, and more than that is their sacrifice to arrange, coordinate, organise activities & events for the benefits of either official members or formers.

In short, we are working together for the the passion of the round-el & our interest.
So IMHO, to pay back the club is to join as an official member. This is the way we show our support and the club will has some fund.Calling all forumers that had benefited from the activites & events to show your support to the club.

Just my 2cents opinion.

Yes BlackE90 like me when orgernise the monsoon cup drive part of the cost of the hotel was paid by the Monsoon Cup promoter and orgerniser. If it is not BMWCM they wont even entertaint you bro.

Can someone PM me what's wrong with both party?

I am smelling gun power all over the place and its not healthy to bring all this up in the forum as it will confuse the visitors that we are fighting among ourself.. the paid members are obviously having the upper hand in any discussion as they deserve our respect to be our "senior" in status and I never talk back to my father. Just keep quiet la.

Those black ID fellas please play by their rules, be it right or wrong rules. They after all own the forum and if you want these rules changed, pay up and secure a voting right and let the passion carry through into the AGM and be heard.

It is exactly these little things that break up an otherwise perfect family.. everyone here is fated to know each other and have the same passion for BMW. Can we live with each other and tolerate each other's shortcoming and thoughts? As I always say, opinion is never wrong because its personal perspective. No right and wrong answer how the club/forum to be run.

If the current committee is not good enough, them vote for a new committee la. You don't have to wait for 4 years what.. no?

nothing wronglah just got too much time on our hands...the best part abt this whole thing is we will meet each other at TT and have a nice teh tarik as though nothing happen..thats the beauty of it..but as for you astroboy I suggest you skip this weeks bowling session...kekekekek

brother no need to PM you anything ...want to know more come for a game of futsal larrr ...or perhaps BOWLING also will do for RB ...

well BMWCM election is just days away and time is ticking away ..no need to wait 4 years or so ...

your humble vote will be highly appreciated ..but then only for paid up members ..so how "???

Good to communicate every now and then to clear the air.

Politics is inevitable, as is the consequential difference of opinions, esp where there is some position, influence, and perhaps even funds involved. As long as the discussions are open and level-headed, no harm discussing differences of opinion.

Now, if you gentlemen don't mind, back to the topic of my post please, where I am collecting feedback on future detailing activities.

kewl bro ...

ya back to to topic ..would love to get hands off the DIY detailing clinic .....especially hands on the machine ...how much pressure do we need to apply and type of machines required ...etc the TORQUE and speed ....

No, I won't pay anything.. if that's what u want to hear Lee..

Why should I pay, get Meguiar to pay la, since we gave them so much business that day.

As for the case of one member showing another member how to do car detailing, I won't pay too! However, I don't mind bringing a Coleman with half a dozen of icy chilled booze inside though.. for his sweaty hard work.. :D

Lee, short answer: No, I will not pay to attend a car-detailing clinic, or any other activities that does not seem to incur significant costs to the club/forum. If any, these activities will only serve to garner free publicity for the club/forums, no?

OK, I agree and acknowledge the fact that the club is kind enough to allow free use of its forums - kudos to that. IMHO, the forums serve as a starting point to recruit fresh blood. Without the forums, it may be quite hard for the club to flourish...

If using the forums to organize some activities means the organizer/participants have to pay a fee, does that mean that people who use the forums to organize TTs, drives etc should pay? What about the people who attend these activities? They should pay too?

Imagine this: who would pay fees to attend a TT??

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding and how nice the club has treated me! Lucky me...

For Everybodies info the club has not charged any fees for anything accept a token fee for the Annual Dinner which was heavily subsidised, infact for the Futsall and bowling meetups the club also subsidises the game fees...so like I said in my first post I was just reasoning with Lee that not all good things come free as he mentioned as there was some cost incurred bcos this forum also need money to run...if this forum did not exist would the clinic have happened?

Anyway back to the topic of this thread. As for me I would also not pay any fees ...infact I would have ask McG to start paying money to advertise in the forum...which is a possibility...but we leave that to the 'Messiah'....until then, just enjoy the view.
