For the politically-minded, no one in the opposition has said today that the move to rationalise subsidies is the wrong thing to do. They would probably do the same, probably even faster. Rather, they've commented on how the savings should be spent, or should not be spent.

It's high time that our fiscal policies recognise that oil resources are finite, and are on the decline throughout the world. It WILL run out. I only wish the world's largest and most profligate consumer of oil (the US) would move in this direction too.

Agreed.. politics aside,I think this issue runs deeper than what most average Malaysians think.

Well Super, those who say they'll vote PR (myself included) are actually supporting rationalising subsidies even faster, because that is their stated position: to remove the subsidies and provide direct aid to the poor. :D

take off the crazy import tax on cars..let the 325sport priced at rm150k (30k gbp)....then they can charge the petrol for rm5 per liter i dont care.

Heheh, it ain't happening no matter who's in the govt. The govt can reduce expenditure ie. reduce subsidies but no way in hell will they reduce income (car import tax).

Personally I'd rather have much higher salaries but that's just me.

to me, by changing government might be difficult but if more PR in at least can kacau a bit and stop BM find all kinds of excuses to pocket the money. We already in deep s**t, by changing might just give a dime hope to all of us who suffer, i guess.

just my 2cents.

So u think PR leaders who even now can't govern their respective states properly won't pocket their 'share'?

PAS wants an Islamic country, while Karpal already made clear that for that to happen Nik Aziz will have to 'langkah my mayat' first.Imagine what type of coalition government they'll form..

Honestly,if there is a REAL alternative,I will vote for them...but the current jokers we have in goverment and in the opposition..blehh puke puke....

I agree with the realities of this bro...but think, if we dun change wat we have, we will stay stuck here and may get deeper in shite.... any alternative will be good, at least for now, at least until we get an ideal administration... keeping wat we have while waiting for that ideal administration, is almost a lost cause, a dim glimmer of hope. If we remove them, we have a world of hope which may pan out...

Absolutely agree with you. PKR also cannot do much damage with DAP and PAS looking over their shoulder. And we know DAP and PAS are largely not corrupt. How can any sane person want current gomen to remain?

Whoops,a little under the belt there..

I guess in the end,it is a democracy and whoever gets more votes will indeed win the next one.The way I see it though, not much will change where transparency, corruption etc are concerned.Mind,DAP and PAS have hugely different aspirations for the country, just how they hope to accomplish a proper government is beyond me.PKR is clueless as always,so I won't get into it.

My family have been in politics for ages,on both sides of the fence.I've seen how both operates, the good, the bad and the ugly.My opinions are based on what I've seen thus far,and it ain't pretty,OR even what it looks like on the surface.

BUT like I said,voting is everyone's right..so when the time comes,vote away:wink:

Actually now we have an ideal check and balance in Sgor and Pg. As seen in Perak, even if the assemblymen are not corrupted, MACC will entice them with bribes. So, sometimes MACC is also doing their job;)

Although there is plenty left to be desired, I can't see how it can be better with Khir Toyo and Koh Tsu Koon around.

Cheers

I think the British did us in with a very ambiguous constitution...where not all Malaysians will be truly equal...

Give 'em power, and power corrupts. DAP have no track record of corruption coz they have no power previously. Nobody ever bothered to corrupt them. PAS too recently under fire when a lot was revealed by some sour grapes.

Give me M3's 414hp V8, I'll surely become corrupt with all the power ! No more mr nice guy!

Agreed.. all this illusion that a lot of people are having of a clean alternative gov amuses me to no end.

I'm not for or against anyone or any party...just merely being realistic.

Vote anyone/party u like, but make sure it is for the right reasons.

We need a Malaysian Abraham Lincoln to fight for equal rights for all Malaysians! It'll probably take a civil war but I am sure, good and fairness will prevail, rise above race, colour or creed!Born here and die here...take your stand people...rev those engines up...the bmw brigade is going to charge down that flank!!!
