Guys, does this include 2003 E39?Free BMW 5 and 6 Series car inspections for glitchPETALING JAYA: Owners of BMW 5 and 6 Series built between 2003 and 2010 have been advised to send in their vehicles for inspection. This follows a report on Monday that BMW AG was recalling about 1.3 million cars for repairs worldwide due to a possible fault with the battery cable cover in the boot.BMW Group Malaysia managing director Geoffrey Briscoe said no accident or injury had been reported due to the technical fault in Malaysia or abroad.“Being proactive in this circumstance as well as for our customers’ peace of mind, we welcome our customers to visit any of our 15 authorised BMW service centres nationwide to get their vehicles inspected.“The process will not take longer than 30 minutes and at no cost to the customer,” he said yesterday.Briscoe said those who bought the 5 and 6 series models built within that period through unauthorised or “grey” importers should also have their vehicles checked immediately at an authorised BMW service centre.According to a Reuters report quoting BMW AG on Monday, the battery cable cover inside the boot of these vehicles may be incorrectly mounted in some cases.“This can result in the electrical system malfunctioning, the vehicle failing to start and, in some cases, to charring or fire,” the company said.BMW said markets affected by the recall include the United States, Germany, Britain and China.Fewer than 1% of the cars BMW has so far inspected for the issue have exhibited the problem, a BMW spokesman said. For more information, call BMW Voice at 1 800 88 3000.

I'm glad BMW is being so responsible :) Mine is a grey import and I'm glad we are also allowed to get our vehicles checked at BMW Service centres.

This is an effort from BMW Malaysia and no matter where we buy, it's still a BMW. If there are charges incurred, BMW Malaysia should settle it themselves with local AD's. That should be the right way IMHO.
