BMW Malaysia Sdn Bhd has introduced three updated 5 Series models, the BMW 530i, 525i and new 523i, which feature new engines and offer more clear choices for customers. In a statement on June 14, BMW Malaysia managing director Wolfgang Schlimme said the introduction of the three updated models would allow the segment-leader to strengthen its position in the market. The cars all sport new engines that have an increase in power, complemented by decreased fuel consumption. The BMW 530i offers a new 3.0 litre engine first introduced in the BMW 630i. The new engine allows a maximum output of 258 bhp, 27 bhp more than its predecessor and achieving the highest specific output in its class. It costs RM460,000 on the road, without insurance. The BMW 525i is now updated with a 6-cylinder engine that is capable of delivering a maximum of 218 bhp, 26 bhp more than its predecessor. Its selling price is RM410,000 on the road, without insurance. The new BMW 523i, which costs RM350,000 on the road, without insurance, comes with a new 6-cylinder engine that delivers a maximum output of 177 bhp and maximum torque of 230 Nm.
