heyya guys, how ya doin... need the wise help of the sifus here..my cousins e30 318 is floating la.. at speed of excess of 100++kmh there is this floating sensation.. most noticable at 140 kmh, like speeding with a kancil like that. he just changed his shocks. cant remember what brand he put in.. he also changed his rims to 16 inches from the standard ones. any idea how to get the handling firm again? he is planning to lower it and put the full body kit. would front spoilers help? what else can be done? and another thing, his mech said it would be ok to chop[ the springs to lower it... i never heard good comments from ppl who chopped springs but his mech said it is of for the e30... really?info really appreciated..thanks!

Advice your cousin to get another mechanic. Don't you ever used this mechanic again.

Floating? .. do the alignment first. If it is didn't solve your problem, may be the coil spring already kaput. Seem he/she want to lowered it, get eibach, H&R etc. 30mm lowered good enought. Lower than that, get some spare oil pan.

last time my e30 also floating like sitting on a sampan with a bit of wave! ! then even worse when rainning, my car go through the road with accumulate water! the car like pull one side... careful and drive slow even already have the best setup!
after i change tyre , do well balancing and alignment, it become no more floating! hehe.... jst to share...

I think your cousin's mechanic shoud be shot. A proper way to lower a car is to get purpose made springs. Don't chop the springs lar.....

it'll make the ride as if you were a rabbit hopping along the highway like a lot of those sagas or kancils on the road now.

btw, your cousin changed to new or 2nd hand shocks?

Just my opinion...
