MOrning guys,

Go for Firenza made in Japan not in Thailand and never drive fast or speed
when it is raining.

My 2 cents :D !

Firenzas are great for japanese cars but BEWARE on continental cars.

Just about everyone here keeps talking about grip, dry performance, wet performance, noise levels, ride comfort, thread pattern, price etc. BUT nobody seems to take note of a very important aspect in choosing a tyre and that is LOAD INDEX.

LOAD INDEX is stated on the sidewall of all tyres. Make sure it can support the kerb(static, not moving) weight of the car. Most cars can experience 0.25g (g-force) around corners. Add 25% to your existing kerb weight and that is what your LOAD INDEX for your car is should you consider driving hard on those tyres.

I have personally seen and heard consumer reports of these tyres exploding (no kidding!) at speeds of 120-140kph after about 40% wear.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
So what is the MIN Load Index we should choose for our Bimmer especially the E34 which is super heavy........... :p

I happen to know that the Firenza ST-03 (i'm using it right now) are rated at 615Kilos but donno if that's enough for a E34. :dunno:

went to batu pahat last week...
the tyre shop askin rm410.00 for pirenza
225/40/18.....per piece

I heard the Dragon prices were revised upwards recently .. not too sure la Affan.

BTW, my Yoko ES100s has to go soon ... can someone suggest a few tyres that I can consider ... medium cost alternatives for 225/40/18s running on Bilstein/Eibach combi. Thanks fellas.

I just bought Firenza ST-03 18/40/225 for RM395 at Jalan Kapar Klang

I would like to add that my second BLOWOUT occurred in Singapore yesterday and it was the same type of blowout as encountered by the other rear tire abt 2 months ago along MRR2 opposite Makro.
The Firenzas may be excellent value for money but this is ridiculous.
however, i paid easily 550+ per tire so.......
I am back in JB but will be installing some new rubbers 2morrow.

*sigh* :( what to expect from a cheap tyres.....ur life is much more valuable then a cheap tyres.

The 512 is better then the ST03...thats all I can say ...

If the tyre blew up it ain't value for money - it's just cheap, no value at all. Like Zoggee said, cheapen your life too.

Guys and gals,

Just sharing my experience. Went to tyre shop to change only the two rear tyres but ended up changing all the tyres . Lucky I did that too after reading some the replies in this thread. Was using firenza(40% left) for the front tyres and detected a couple of quite serious tear(the ones that look like what is going to happen to Incredible Hulk's shirt when he's transforming) on the tyre. Big possibility of exploding tyre if kept on using. Luckily again that I am quite a slow poke driver and not be driving the Bimmer hard. If not...........

Btw, changed all tyres to Goodyear Eagle F1. So far so good.

Am on Michelin Pilot Precedas...good tyres for a good value.....

225/45R17 for RM430....including balancing, and alignment...

Someone got 215/45R17 in Klang for RM415 sometime back...

What about Yokohama A520? Anyone has feedback on this? :dunno:

Its relatively cheaper, but how good are the tyres? BTW, this a made in Japan, not the Phillipina made ones.

:( i feel that i have to say something when i saw this thread..
had a very bad experience while i was using my e36 few years ago.i was using S-02s but when they wore out i was a bit strapped for cash(starting biznez) so eventually went for the Firenza ST-03 as they were quite reasonably priced and looked pretty decent.
note that my e36 was a manual with a 3.0 upfront.anyways, after fitting them on i found the dry weather grip was okay but a tad rumbly.drove on them for a while in the dry due no rain.
SURPRISE came when it rained and man oh man was it hairy driving in the rain..the grip was almost non-existant!!!
for those of u already on the ST-03s my advise is exercise extreme caution in the wet!! i'm not telling u to drive slow,i'm telling u to drive VERY VERY VERY slow...its no fun aquaplaning and going sideways on the highway with a huge container truck just a few tens of feet behind u,been there man!!! lucky i was able to control it but my girlfriend was not so lucky..she spun the car in the rain exiting the USJ toll and hit the divider 4 times b4 coming to a stop.lucky its a bimmer and the interior was intact..

so guys,BEWARE!!! :(
