Thanks thetaj, I had been specificic about the diesel when I was looking for a bmw. Apart from the high torque diesel car has, it is also very fuel efficient. As of now, I'm a happy camper :) drove my wife's car for dinner yesterday and I was complaining to my wife how come her car doesn't "move" when I floored it. :) seriously, after nearly 2months of ownership of the diesel, driving another petrol car felt lame(no offence to petrolheads as I'm comparing to my others petrol cars in my stable)

You're right bro :) Torque is more important than bhp in our normal city driving. If I would've known you earlier, I've gotten a diesel than a petrol 3 litre. Road tax also cheaper!

Hi Noobie, Nice Mods.....Mind sharing where did you get your side grill? RM250 is cheap.....

it got it from desbimmer(a forummer here). he was kind enough to inform me that he has extra set bought during group-buy. perhaps you can PM him to check if there is anymore left.

some people like to say things like "if you can afford an expensive cars, what is petrol to you... blah blah blah..." but errr..., my money don't grow on trees. Even if it does, it is still my perogative to look into my recurring expenses mah.

anyway, even under company, my roadtax is still reasonable. around 700+(road tax is double under company reg cars).

I agree with you bro :) Although we can afford, it doesn't mean we should waste money. If we can save some up and use some extra to do charity, it's a better option than deliberately spending when something can be done. Moreover the expensive petrol price we're paying for ends up in the government's coffer and eventually into some politician's pocket.

Hi,
Any good and reasonable painting shop can install the side grill in Shah Alam/PJ/Subang? Roughly how much it will cost? I got the side grill already.....
Thanks for ur input!

try soo seng @ batu caves. 3k for solid paint and 4k for metallic/pearl. he cut the grill for me base on goodwill(free).

Leong - 0123358381. Tell him the e60 that uses the hard lacquer. he should know.

Hi Noobie,

What an impressive chronology of your journey, you must be really passionate about your car! Well, I got my car new, but in time to come, some good tips from you would help maintain it like it's day one. Already I'm looking at doing the lamination on the headlights, definitely a must long term protection for those beautiful angel eyes!

One question, didn't you consider going a bit further with the exhaust system, like the quad exhaust since you were doing quite a bit work to your car? This is one thing I would like to do in the near future.

Thanks for sharing bro.

Cheers.

hi t-tan,

thanks for the compliments.... i'm very particular about cars cos i'm spend 30-40% of my time driving in it. salesman mah :) i try to wash my own car whenever possible(eg. saturday) and it's usually a 6hours affair!!(few cars to wash :()

not 100% ready to tinker with the car's performance yet as the car is still under warranty. What i have done to date is more on the aesthetic of the car rather than enhancing the performance of the car itself. even if i'm to do it, i will use performance products from BMW itself(if available). eg. power upgrade kit, cos mine is a diesel, not really sure how many independent sifus out there comfortable enough in tinkering with my car without gremlins cropping up here and there... :)

and one more thing... i'm happy with the current setup(performance) of the diesel... As for the quad exhaust thingy, have to replace my bumper or "cut" another side, not ready to do ler...

Awesome write-up bro :top: Thanks for sharing and the car is simply gorgeous

LOL! Your sales must be very good :top: can afford an E60 to drive around :4: I could only dream of E60 when I worked in the sales dept 8 years ago! After 2-3 years of hard work, upgraded from Satria to Altis... but E60 was still a looooonnnggggg way to go bro!

Should you consider to do Quad exhaust setup... only 2 options for you:
1) Change to Hamann diffuser. forgot the price but expect to pay more than RM500...
2) Use your existing M-sport diffuser and ask mod shop to "cut" another side (like you said) - they have the mould to make both side exactly the same... cost RM250-300 depending on your negotiation skill. But like I said, when you can afford E60 by working in sales line... I have no doubt that you can get good deal :top: for me, I have both diffuser :4:

Drive your car further to see if stock hp is sufficient to meet your insatiable appetite for power! Most of the time, we want more power because when our hands lay on the BMW steering, we just simply floor the accelerator! So when you have the Power Kit, the tendency for you to pecut further is very HIGH! The result? Higher fuel consumption... not really suitable for your driving needs right? I almost bought BMS PowerBox for my N52 engine but in the end, I realised that the extra 10% in hp & torque means nothing as when I drive my family around, I seldom speed and whenever I drive alone, the 218hp grunt from my engine is good enough to smoke other cars on the road... unless they are those Prancing Horse or Raging Bull emblem on the car lo! oh yes... our elder bro bearing the M logo also needs to be respected!

hehehe... salesman... i guess that is the correct title for me then since i do sales for my company :) 8yrs ago, i lagi teruk... ride ex-5 only. but damm STRESS-FREE. 1 week petrol = RM5 only. Happy go lucky guy... now BENGIS face all the time :)

thanks for the heads-up with regards to the quad exhaust. I'm happy with the current performance of the car. my main objective of enhancing the car is more of the overall visual outlook rather than performance oriented. car still under warranty till next year. better wait for the warranty to finish first before i upgrade or modify the car to gain extra performance if required.

You do sales for the company doesn't entitled you to be called salesman... you also can be either sales manager, sales director, or even THE DIRECTOR himself but doing sales :4: ahhh... being Bengis is associated with the workload and the pressure that comes with it right?? I feel you bro!

Actually I have exactly the same sentiment as you do... that is to enhance the visual outlook of the car :top: top in my list will be LCI head and taillamp, followed by CSI style trunk, lamination of the trim (similar to M5 trim) & changing my existing foglight to LED type (this will require pimping)...

Having said that... I really do envy your E60's fuel consumption! I wish that I could last for more than 700-800km per tank of fuel but the furthest I could go was max 650km (that was very light-footed and on the highway most of the time)... if not, it was only 500km or so! sigh...

I saw a pair of M5 mirrors in Mudah and it's RM3800 but not sure if it's a direct fit to normal E60? :) If it has foldable and auto dim feature, do we need to install anything extra?

Perfect!! Its really an enjoy reading as well as very 'informative'..
I reckon you may be a 'reporter' or maybe one day you'll be like the one curly hair mat saleh in the 'Top Gear' series.

Happy Exploration, btw & thx for the above addr..
