It was great fun to meet up (Grand TT 2006 @MMZ Shah Alam) when we were not 'segregated' based on those who paid or did not pay up in regards to the annual fee but this view was based on my personal observations.

Just to clarify, I personally don't believe in freeloading. I was even willing to contribute 'a little' towards the maintenance of this website. Group drives 'fund' will only be collected from individuals who wish to participate so that was not an issue to me then and now. You only pay if you want to join th egroup drives....Most of time, I can't really make it due to work commitments which is my main priority now.

But... as I have mentioned before, RM150 is really a big sum for me to cough up annually for the sake of some freebies, membership card and online status stating one is a full fledged 'paid up' member which will highlighted or 'exclusivity'... Similar sentiments was shared by most of the E21 guys when we met up informally quite somtime ago.
As I have stated before too, something which is practised/agreed by the majority does not always make the action right or the best thing to do likewise politically too.

So likewise John, that is the reason why I have not paid up (sign up) because I don't think I am going to benefit from being a member. I also don't believe in paying up to feel 'belonged' esp with a club which started its roots as an internet based enthusiast car club/forum. So if that does not make me any more exclusive or loss my exclusivity to most of you.... So be it!!

Cheers all

I understand that you cannot afford it and its okay. The club has never stated that you can only join the drives and other activities if you are a paid up member but there are exclusive events and benefits enjoyed when you are an official member and as a BMW enthusiast myself, I wish to do more for the club to grow and grow. There are member's ( unofficial ) who are doing things to bring the club forward in a very positive way by participating in events and so on. I don't know what u encountered during ur 1 TT at MMZ whatsoever but rest assured that we don't treat members and official members differently at all but of course, they must be supportive of the club and it's goals. ( U can check if you want )

Even today, I'm very proud to see the works of the former and present committee, distinguished members and the founding members in bringing the club to what it is today and we as present members always try our best to strive for excellence without compromise.

Anyway, I think you got my point and I got yours so let it be and always remember that good things dont come cheap and cheap things doesn't necessarily mean that it's good!!

Btw, How often do you change your black oil?

To conclude, ur last statement seems like you are not even supposed to be posting here!!::rolleyes:

Hi Bro,

First of all, I would like to clarify that all BMW enthusiasts are welcome to participate in this forum.

That being said a lot of forumers tend to get carried away, without realising where they stand. As a forumer, you are just a forumer, simple as that. I reckoned there is a lot of negative sentiment towards your thread due to the fact that as a forumer, you simply have no local standing to dictate and criticised (implied or otherwise) on the direction this club is heading to.

Again, I have to stress that we are not segregating anyone here. We are a proper club registered with ROS and a member of BMW International Council of Car Clubs, and at present Malaysia is elected as the Representative for the Asia Region, the other being Japan (Permanent Rep). Forumers like you have a choice, you can choose to be an official member or otherwise. The choice is yours and as such, there is no segregation. As JOhn.J mentioned, most if not all of our events like Bimmerfest, Annual Dinner, Treasure Hunt and etc were opened to all BMW Enthusiasts! And of course members do have their privileges (lower entrance fees, free drinks and etc) which is very normal in any car clubs or a matter of fact, any organisation.

Hope this clear the air over why there is overwhelming negative sentiment against your thread.

Cheers

tell me which tt (official/non-official) where peole have been segregated according to who is an official and who is not an official member?? who is segregating who?? you tell me now!!

Just to clarify, I personally don't believe in freeloading. I was even willing to contribute 'a little' towards the maintenance of this website. Don't just talk. If want to contribute to maintain the website, just contribute!

Who sez money is collected for monthly drives?? who sez it is only open to official members?? can't make it due to work?..is it the clubs problem..it is your problem! are we forcing you to join? if "no" then why are we having this discussion???

But... as I have mentioned before, RM150 is really a big sum for me to cough up annually for the sake of some freebies, membership card and online status stating one is a full fledged 'paid up' member which will highlighted or 'exclusivity'...

you have obviously not read my earlier posting where i shared as an official member you get :

1. club shirt (worth $80)
2. club key chain (worth $12)
3. club cap (worth $20)
4. bmw club sticker (worth $4)
5. number plate holder (worth $30)
7. discounts for official member at certain restaurants & accessory shops
8. 1 bottle (4 liter) of engine lub oil (worth $150..!!)

and you only pay...
$150 for membership for all the stuff total value of $300 !! so what is the problem unless you tell me you don't use engine oil then i really dunno what to say...OMG! its a miracle!

Similar sentiments was shared by most of the E21 guys when we met up informally quite somtime ago.

Who are they?? Where are they??...What are they???

As I have stated before too, something which is practised/agreed by the majority does not always make the action right or the best thing to do likewise politically too.

- and your point being? you're talking about yourself or what? or does your statement have double meaning?? say what you mean, mean what you say...!

So likewise John, that is the reason why I have not paid up (sign up) because I don't think I am going to benefit from being a member. so don't be a member, for the last time no one is forcing you! did anyone point a gun at you head and say "SIGN !!" if you don't feel you have a sense of belonging so why did you start this thread other than to vent out your frustrations at the so called 'exclusive' official members. you just wanted to kutuk the club, right? co'mon..admit it..dun be shy!

well guess what? no one gives a damn how or what you feel, especially me! no one is feeling sorry for you because when i paid my membership i did not have to ask your permission and if you sign up its is your prerogative right of choice which no one can take from you.

bro, you have issues. no one is closing any doors to anyone but you seem to have all that figured out without knowing all the facts. also, noticed your conversation is always about "i want to do this , but.." . is this how you go about with life? not knowing all the details and always blamimg others for your lack of understanding? what is so 'exclusive' about that...?!

looks like there's no pleasing everyone. ;)

but i wonder why i only see the same ppl posting in 'panas' threads such as this. where'd the other members go? silence is golden? :) no interest? can't be bothered?

This is a pi mai pi mai tang tu topic... no point to post banyak2 la Ramsing :)

I pay RM150/year just to show my support to the club regardless what I get in return or who the committees are & whether they are steering the club to the direction that I like or not. I did it for the club, period. If the committee does not take the club to the direction that I like, I'll vote for different committee next time. BUT, itu yuran laa... bayar tetap bayar!

There is no excuse to say don't want to pay or don't want to join because the committee is not doing what you want. If you like the club, just pay. Don't sacrifice the club just because the committee's direction is different than yours. The committee can always be changed, but the club will remain the same (or dead if we don't support it).

Back to the topic, I'd vote for our own clubhouse when we can afford it :top:

you are correct my friend. i also pay for the support n initiative. not to expect something in return. if u like it, then pay if u want. dun pay also ok. end of day, everyone happy. still can sit down n have TT.

it'd be nice to have a clubhouse, but our numbers are small. and it'll only serve for ppl in the surrounding area. the best is that each town have one club house. as astroboy mentioned, spa is a good place. good ambience, good food. and we can tell the wives that we need to visit the clubhouse to do some club action....and also visit other town clubhouses.... :top:

ramsing.. we go papaya farm drive one of these days if time permit.

wah...you only ask ramsing...what about the rest, bro?? (this is segregation...LOL!!!)

OK all are welcome for papaya farm drive orgynise by ramsing..

and not forgetting our taiko.. lamoo as the tour guide.

"Brick and mortar" is a thing of the past with convenient and cheap internet connection everywhere. I don't see there's anything wrong with a "virtual clubhouse" where opinions are shared online, with fun and laughter thrown in once in a while, with no worries about paying rental, salary of the staff behind the counter, juice in the fridge is expiring, or booze is running low, and hey, this virtual club house is open 24 by 7!!. Must I see your face? (maybe u very handsome?) Must I hold your hand? (WTF)

Bear in mind that this is not about making profit and this is certainly not a profit oriented organisation. The RM150 is just a contribution to a pool of fund so we can have fun.. don't look at it as paying for server and stuff because those are really negligible, if not free.

What about WWF (World Wildlife Federation) setting up stores selling merchandise for contribution to their wildlife saving activities? or Manchester FC stores? U think Manchester has more members/fans than our club? So u are a Manchester fan... can u get more discounts or lepak there? and what happen to the Manchester FC store in 1-Utama.. not enough fans/members/discounts?

Well, if someone can provide us a shop or a bungalow to be our clubhouse with servants and swimming pool, rent-free. Why not? let our CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer) worries about bringing in the bunnies.. :p

Many businesses are not doing so well, even workshops can close shop. So what makes you so sure this "business" of yours can survive? ... don't just think about profit from selling merchandise or services because there are much higher cost involved in a "brick and mortar" business model.. who's paying the rental? 6-month buffer capital for the business comes from where? The stocks going to tie down whose fund? Bank loan? Who service the interest? and why am I even talking about doing business here? THIS IS A CAR CLUB!!

Okay, we tumpang like a parasite but if this Ah Kow or Ah Beng workshop close shop? what happen to the club? Move else where? So what's the difference with our current temporary club house of changing venue every weekends? or concurrent venues the same evening at TT or HH places? Even at papaya farms as someone mentioned earlier?

Seriously? What are u suggesting here? I must admit I'm a little retard because until now, I still don't get what you are trying to suggest to our committee. Is there an available rent-free bungalow? Mr. CEO, go get us some bunnies.. so we can parrrrrrrrty.......!!!

Merchandise? No! I'm not buying any merchadise!
Repairs? No! I repair and service at the SC for warranty or want ever peace of mind reason!
Car wash? No! I do the washing myself, trust nobody with my bimmer, not even my maid!
Upgrades? No! I am happy with my stock config. It's a BMW okay!

Try foot massage! I'm interested, lots of stupid people making me all stressed out, will bring spouse to support too! :top:

An opinion is like an arsehole. EVERYONE will have one. No offence, but are you really bothered with all the BS that some dingo is posting here? Well, I'm quite sure both you and I have better things to do:cool:

People pay up & join the club simply becoz they're willing to pay. We're both paid-up members because of our very own sane reasons. If you want to get some indications on why these people come in posting all this crap, start up a poll asking all of em why they don't want to be official members. It would seem a little pathetic coming from an esteemed establishment like BCM, but nevertheless indicate why the situation is so.

Don't mean to be hostile or rude to you or anyone else man, I'm just here stating my point. Beers on me the next time we meet, cheers:)
