I know you changed your seals at New Age Auto a couple of days ago. A call was made to mechanic Foong of New Auto and Foong confirmed never heard of honest joe. You could well be an innocent party who bought the seals from honest joe aka x benz. I am not threatening you, just laying out the facts.

herbert, I think there is a misunderstanding. Honest Joe is a slang for a honest person.

You should be asking New Auto whether any person change their Vanos seal last week with seal provided by themselves.

btw, not many people will change their Vanos Seal unless the mechanic tell them.

i think we really do not hv space for mindless gun slingers!
maybe herbert hasnt be slapped with a defamation suit yet.
i rest my case.

by the way to all the guys who have bought the seals....
arent we aware that herbert is making a lot of profit from this group buy?
why is he slinging his gun everywhere falling short of blaming his very own collecting department???

bro, can PM me your car registration? I also want to confirm with New Auto that you change your vanos there so as to clear this misunderstanding.

I think a tit-for-tat action is really uncalled for. Let's keep this thread as clean as possible for ppl to provide means of feedback to vanos seals changing. I, for one, want this thread to be kept alive as I had certain problem after installation and I hope also to provide certain reasonable confidence to fellow members what to take note of, prior to changing.

For the record, the price Herbert charges for single vanos is RM90, the price quoted on beisan website is USD30 (Single Vanos Seals Repair Kit (6-cyl) Item # BS011, $30 ) website: http://www.beisansystems.com/products.html. The RM90 is inclusive of shipping.

PS, I am not related to Herbert or something. He is just a fellow forummer who let us know of the benefit of vanos seals and arranges for group purchase.

Guys,

For those who is changing or changed the vanos seals already. Remember to ask your mech to recode or reset the vanos ! ! Or else the vanos will not work as it's supposed to be. It will not advance when your ECU give the signal and will result higher fuel consumption.

I had my VANOS seals changed today on the new engine, took the opportunity to change now before trying out the engine beforehand coz the engine is already on the floor, so workmanship tay payah kira la. Also made sure the alignment of the camshafts and the pulley was proper. I also saw those fellas changing the seal on max's E38 today. Got confidence on all your respective feedback, hope it feels super for me too.

Hi Jarance,

Gotten this info from my mech ! ! I'll try to get a print-out of a non working vanos read out from him tomorrow. Then I'll post it out.... After changing the vanos seals, it's a must to check the vanos from the system.

I actually had a vanos error pop up on the diagnostic machine. It was "mechanical jam".

Anyway had the error code deleted but I haven't got the time to run the diagnostic again to see if the error code is back.
