sifu sifu please help..my e36 idling irregular then the engine die off even during slow driving. this happen after over acceleration. is it got to do with the host leaking?

can be a lot of other things..

1. fuel line filter
2. fuel regulator
3. injectors
4. Air mass
5.
6.
7.

others, please add in..

Was the aircond on or off? Did it happen in both situations?
Could also be the ICV (Idle Control Valve).

Did you face any issues when starting? Any hesitation? Cold starts ok? Warm starts ok? If there are issues here, check the Crankshaft Position Sensor.

Oh ya.. it could be something really minor like the throttle cable.
I am more inclined towards the MAF (mass airflow) or idle control valve.

bro, had the same problem after accelaration and then like kena severe cough...dies.

its the AFM.

Snoop ,

This is classic E36 problem . Been there , done it ...the culprit was idle control valve. Have it serviced first . Also service the body throttle / butterfly valve / AFM .
Next check for any leakeage in your exhaust system .

Good luck bro ...

Can start anytime but it die off while driving whether over accelarate or not. while driving the meter suddenly goes up n down then die-off but I did't accelarate. Stall in the middle of the road few times but manage to start immediately.

crank shaft sensor about to kaput.. get it change.

idling speed .. AFM vane stick in open position after heavy acceleration.

that syntoms you just describe is usually the speed sensor failing at the rear diff... the engine needs to know what speed the car is moving, coming to a halt, stationary .. it will feed fuel, adjust the icv, etc so that the engine does not die..

check that if all else fails..

is it speed monitor sensor has relation with gearbox(auto) shifting too?

your fuel pump might be kaput....happened to me 2weeks ago...same symptom...Modic will reveal the problem

this one sounds like ur injection problem...

Definitely not fuel pump cos i hv change it a mth ago and major gear box service 7 mths ago. Manage to send to Mspeed to diagnose but nothing not sensor either, test drive the car for an hr nothing happen. so hv to monitor and hope it won't die-off half way..suspect somewhere leaking..
