Rachel, these guys wants their car to outlast their missy at home... :D ..unless u know and have a trusty workshop, a routine oil change outside may end u up in good condition parts being swapped out and regrets later on. It not safe out there!

Just return to SC and pay for the premature oil change if you can afford it. The oil is about RM70/L and 325i requires 7L, so 7x70=RM490. Oil filter should be no more than RM50 kua.. Labor.. all in at least RM600 loo...

DIY for 320i oil change reference here :D http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18080

how much to do an oil change & change filter OUTSIDE BMW?
since BMW recommends at 25k and it forumer suggested every 10-15k??

Depends on the oil you use...I would say RM300-400 for a 6-potter, and that is using high end oil

The only engine oil that I find suitable for our E90 is Torco that comes certified BMW LongLife-04 and the cheapest price I can get is RM60/L last year. I have not seen other BMW LL-04 certified engine oil in the market thus far except those supplied in bulk to BMW Service Center.

Spoken to an established spare part shop, when they hear me looking for oil for latest 3-series, they looks like seeing ghost and say they don't sell! Spoke to the Castrol people at Castrol booth during Mini Bimmerfest, they too confirm the don't carry our BMW-LL04 oil in 4L pack, not even 1L pack. Their PowerFlow 5W-40 Full Sync only suitable for BMW with no Valvetronics and that's pre-2001 models.

Workshop will tell u everything can! U be the judge. I'm running "Q8 5W-40 BMW Special Oil" because its cheap... can pakai or not? What I can say is keeping my finger crossed!

When I changed my run-in oil at 3,000km at Ingress, the total was RM758 including gaskets, windscreen washer and stuff like that. Oil supplied was Petronas Syntium 3000. BTW, the SCs and branch management privately recommend more frequent oil changes than the 25,000km specified by BMW.

What windshield washer? soapy water?

The "standard" is stick to the book.

More frequent oil change means more profit for the service center... frequent oil change also mean the engine life can be extended beyond "standard" engine life.

"Standard" is just a standard.

BMW can set whatever standard they wish which I believe they are referring to 160k km. Is that your "standard" ?? I want my engine to last beyond 500k km.. :p

Forgot to tell them not to include the washer fluid in the service lar! Must remember next time...very expensive soapy water!

Well said, astro. It's not in the manufacturer's interest to have their cars last forever. BTW, C&C SCs also tell me the same thing - to change oil before the recommended service interval.

Just curious...what is the recommended service interval for Merc?

It varies according to what Assyst Plus computes for you based on the parameters of the car. My E-class when new showed about 20k between services. Now at 3+ years it's more like 14-15k.

i found out merc SC always did this good direction, because last time my father merc when warrenty went end then the SC change many things for him without any notice, so nice service, hope B M W can like this also.....maybe this its the way why BMW always loss MERC! wakakakaakakakak

exactly,, my dad's CLS 350,, got watermarks inside the head lamps... i had no problem with it, but the SC said i change both sides for you...it cost around 13K, under warranty... MErcedes after services are the best, but for my e90, the headlamp shaking, the AB JB SC said, "nevermind, we will open it up n install some rubber band so that it wont shake that much"... i scracth my head and waited for the results... Guess what?.. it still shakes and worst... stupid AB JB!

What a damn....

i guess you guys always bring the car to supermarket or frequent traffic jam area.,
it will happend when the oil was vaporised and trapped in the ICV, to solve/prevent;
use the correct synthetic oil and manually start the electric fan if you guys expert enough..:34:
or install the oil cooler just like the M3.:34:
start the A/C compressor will greatly increase the temp. during traffic jam...soo turn it off ???

7.oLitre of synthetic oil should keep the 2.5L engine good enough, do not use mineral oil (extracted oil from crude oil)

drive your car above 80km/h , rev the engine to 7000 rpm (in highway), to purge the oil system and some other system.., drive the car slow = killing your car, it was sport car..., but
losser to VIOS??? or PROTON??? , it could be the similiar bug that SUCK....

my car has the same problem... according to AB Glenmarie it has osmething to do with the fuel pump/injectors... changed it... and it is working fine now... all done under warranty... it has something to do with what was said in the previous post...

:34:, ??, it could be the MAF sensor?? it could be BUG was in the car and cause everything short-LIVE, just like what i found in my car.

i had make investigation and found that the BMW had alot of domestic/political enemy,

The first enemy;
was the crude oil pumping people from middle east?/local?/europe?/russian?/africa?; BMW design thier car to run on with synthetic lubricant and developed the Hydrogen powered system, soo the owner never buy the mineral oil which was extracted from crude oil,

second enemy, The NATO occupied the terrorist 's HOMELAND, ha ha ha the GERMAN jews occupied it....:thefinger: :34:

Third enemy, competition with local and asian brand...

Fourth enemy...???

sooo on, alot of thier enemy putting on dirty work on them and try to destroying it brand and businese...ALL THESE of thier enemy was damn damn cow-cow Powderful with $$$$$$$$$ to run all the conspiracy...

some of thier tactic was to use to word term 'NAZI', thier enemy use it by influence everybody not to buy that car; tell people the BMW was eat alot of money, problem-matic car, NAZI car, the waffen-SS vehicle????,in fact the war had end and nazi was banned in europe..., they even discriminate the user..???

good luck guyss outhere..:34:

i dunno when and how the NATO???/BMW???/GERMAN?? will fight back alone ????
