Hi guys. I just got my e90 325i last week... no engine shaking issue... but my car it seems need to tarik handbrake maximum (like 5-6 clicks) then only the handbrake will hold the car stationary... i brought the car to AB glenmarie (where i bought the car), the SA states that i need to use the car for a week or so before the handbrake will "adjust" itself to the brakes... whe i asked how come, he said because the car was not used frequently... so i must use it for a week first... its about a week already... totally no difference... still must pull handbrake all the way up maximum.... and it feels a bit loose as well.. any ideas? p.s. i live in mont kiara... any tt i will be joining for sure haha :) cheers

doesnt the handbrake need to be adjusted (mechanical linkage) ? i know most cars have a cable linkage for the handbrake which is adjustable in case too much free play (which is what is happening in ur case i think)?

Does not seems logical. My Toyota also not such loose hand brake problem, unless handbrake wear out loo.. Don't tell me Toyota is more advance.

JDM handbrake normally won't adjust itself, only disc brake and drum brake will adjust itself. UDM dunno la..

i got a new test for my engine shaking left & right, actually i am switching off my spring boster so i feel that every cold start will shaking, but i install back the spring boster on my car and i feel little shaking only on this morning, so weird .....

if you want a third party to diagnose your car, i have a friend now in KL who worked in a BMW dealer for at least more than 15 yrs. he just started his own center. very nice guy with the right attitude! go visit him and seek for his advice on the probable cause of your problem if you have any. PM me for his number...k!

Although not E90 related (but still a straight 6), this happens on my E46 325i since new also. I've gotten used to it and seems "normal" to me. Its like a rough V8 idle on cold start and smoothens out after half a minute or so. The ECU does a good job to prevent any stalling. Its doesnt happen on a warm/hot engine. Engine mounts have been changed and its still the same. I've attributed this to cold starts and the ACS exhaust. No other mods done engine-wise.

Hi 3er, as you know, mine's a E46 2.0 4-potter and for the past 2 months i have been having those issues too. Like paulpaul2, when i engage reverse gear (also happens when i move forward), there is noise and vibrations but eventually go away when engine warms up.

I went to M-Speed many times but could not diagnose the problem. I too thought of leaving the car overnight.

Quite embarrassing to drive off a UDM with that kind of noise which only happens when engine is cold.
