if putting gear D or R will feel vibra, from my previous experience i think should be the ENGINE MOUTING problem.you might check it out.

Yes, Paul, that's what I would suspect too! Or the idling is too slow.. but for such a new car, I dare not speculate. Best let the foreman check..

My friend's W124 had ICV (Idle Control Valve) problem and he refused to get it fix because it cost RM600 for a new ICV. So the moment he let go his gas pedal, engine dies. How he uses the car then?

Went out for lunch with him one day only I realise he has been keeping his right leg on the gas all the time to keep the rpm up. So how he brake? Yes, left leg, the go-kart style!

... and yes, who ever want to buang his BMW do let me know! I will take a number and queue up! :D

ya its feel like this around 6-8 sec when cold start, i can feel that its shake from the engine side

I have the same problem with my car when I start it in the mornings....thought it's just because the engine's cold...the shaking bit only happens in the morning starts though....so have you solved the problem yet?

I read somewhere after installing K&N, u get this shivering issue because too much air flow during idling when engine is cold.

This is something very difficult to show the SC because by the time u reach SC, engine oredi warm up lio.. :( unless u leave it over night.. :(

I wonder why any of you are putting up with a vibrating car, even if it's only for a short while in the mornings. There is a mechanical problem there that's easily fixed - mountings, cold start fuel mix or something similar. It should not happen on any car, let alone a BMW.

you're right schwepps...while my warranty still runs, i'm going to head down to SA's service center and ask about it!

Better send in while still under warranty. In my town, there are already a few 2.5l entire engines changed. My 2l engine is replaced too. For my case, it is the engine oil failure. Check your engine oil filler cap. Look at the condition of the oil on it.

Care to elaborate more. What's the reason for the engines changed especially for the 2.5l models ?

Engine vibration and stalling during idling. High engine oil burn off. This is a known issue happens to 2.5l on 525.

Sounds like we are still a white rat in the automobile technology exploration.. Scary!! Its not whether u get it or not but its rather when is your turn... :(

How does oil failure looks like? Is it too long didn't change engine oil until oil turn very thick and dark?

Greetings,
Ya, it looked like tar, good for road resurfacing...
I ranted this issue before on this forum. Engine oil fails due to over usage. But OBC said more than 10k to go. Complain all the way up to BMW AG, they say thrust the OBC. It has a very advance sensor that monitor everything inside the engine, including the vicosity of engine oil.
Now, after the replacement of engine, my car has done more than 15K, OBC still reads 33k to go before oil replacement. Kind of a really low maintenance vehicle.

u mean u had ur engine replaced? what was the problem?

honestly i never believa Merc / Bmw SA told me engine oil can last 25k km until the OBC light pop out, i will do my engine oil change every 10k km if dealer workshop dont do that for me i will go for private machinic and pay it myself. From my feel tell me this kind of money its cannot save one...dont play play......

+1.
cheaper to pay for oil than engine replacement. :) in the american bmw forums, i see some of them change every 5000 to 10000 km. our climate is considered extreme, if u ask me.

Just checked with my friend in UK. He owns E60, 525i; He said OBC mark setting is at 20k Miles(32k km). But he normally do oil and filter change at 8k miles(12k km) in UK, without OBC reset.

BTW, my OBC still at 24k km mark, even though I have driven a lot...something wrong??

Paul, what type of engine oil do you use?

i never choice the brand of engine oil, just use full synthetic oil only, normally my machanic will decide for me.

It is recommended to do an oil change interval at every 10,000 km to 15,000 km.

is this recommendation from bmw malaysia or bmw worldwide? i feel the malaysian climate and where specifically and how u drive determines the interval. more likely 5 to 10,000 km intervals?

how much to do an oil change & change filter OUTSIDE BMW?
since BMW recommends at 25k and it forumer suggested every 10-15k??
