engine oil change

Hi Guys,As we all are aware that it is recommended to change the engine oil every 10,000km if use fully synthetic. However, the idrive show's approximately 20,000km. My question is how much should we trust the idrive?How many of you have problem with your car and you suspect it could be due to changing engine oil every 20,000km instead of 10,000km?

I used fully synthetic oil and change every 8K to 10K km. There has been a lot of discussion of the peril of changing your engine oil as per BMW's extended time frame, most notably sludge would build up. Not advisable to wait until 20K.

if u in Europe, then possible for oil change interval to last 20k km.. but not in Malaysia due to the high sulfur content fuel which "contaminates" our engine oil during combustion process and turn the engine oil to sludge.. different climate, different quality of "life"..

My 2007 E60 was recalibrated by AB to 12000 km oil change interval at my first service. So now the iDrive will prompt me to change engine oil every 12000 km.
