aiyoo.. i don't think erica would want to get that far. For 85 bucks, erica can only screw the old and wringkled ones at Lorong Haji Taib. :yes!:

better get back to topic before really kena screw for free...

i'm totally sold on not spending on synthetic oil given my current ride. this day everyone try to screw everybody. don't believe what they say. don't believe what you see. believe what your credit card statement shows.

Well, just to further add on. When the pistons on my previous engine was removed from the block, it look perfectly fine (170,000km), same thing with the engine and con rod bearings. The piston sleeve look fine as well. Overall, I have no doubts about the mineral oil's ability to provide adequate protection.

Well, have been using Castrol Magnatec on my jalopy since new and it has already hit 240,000 kms. Engine hardly showed any signs of wear... and I changed my oil every 10,000 kms. Thinking of switching to Magnatec for my babe too...

i use to stick with shell, now i'm trying mobil super xhp 20w-50. the thing is that i have the feeling that my tappets are noisy now... i've only been using xhp for the past 3 days. any comments? a friend (also using old bmw) said that's usual and will go away in a week or so. something like new oil so engine needs time to 'like' it.

One forumer tried Penzoil 10W-40 and the noise went away immediately in his e36 325 :)

For castrol I usually get it from PH auto at Sea Park (near Maybank and Shell Station). Owner drives an e60 as well :)

AS for oil usage, I never doubt the superiority of synthetic over mineral oil. However, my contention has always been that the additional benefits that comes with the superiority are not needed in our daily driven cars and hence no need to waste the extra expenditure.

I agree with this!!

Say if one company sell engine oil used by Formula 1 car...maybe RM100.00 for 1 liter, questions:

1. Would you buy it to be used for your daily use road car??
2. Is it necessary?
3. Many of you can afford it, but it is worth the money you spend?

:dunno: :) ;)
