I have actually had the ASC in an e39 send me sideways, I was turning and front tires hit a slick oilly surface, ASC applied rear outside brake and sent the 39 into a wide angle slide. Without LSD no ability to power down to counter steer into the slide.

Using counter steer is needed while holding throttle constant, much more useful when you have LSD as both tires lock and you have more control of the slide
