Thks Choq. I'd bought Mobil 1 0w-40 from Tesco last year when there was a promo.

Will be changing oil soon. I am waiting for the top up light to come on.

Hopefully the oil consumption issue improves with the new oil thickness and my diving style.

I plan to change the oil every 6 mths or 7500km as i only travel about 15k km per year.

Read somewhere in the net; not sure was it from 'bob is the oil guy' site, that the viscosity of 0W-40 is very similar to factory filled 5W-30 when engine is in normal driving temp. Hence, 0W-40 is a very compatible oil

Just changed my engine oil on 17.8.13.

6.5 months since my previous service and after doing 6000km. The top up light came up a few days b4. Decided time to change the oil instead of top up.

Much better than previous owners 3mths @ 3k km top up.

Gasket and sump leaking a bit. Will fix that at the next oil change in 6 mnths unless leak gets worse.

Total cost:-

Mobil 1 0w-40 (Tesco) RM139x2 = RM278
Oil Filter (Auto Bavaria)= RM66
Labour (Chu )= RM38

Total RM382

In Malaysia, we need to take care of the 2nd number only becoz this is the number that determines the viscosity needed for the oil at high temperatures. Eg 10W-40 - you can use 5W-40 or 0W-40.

The first number is the viscosity required when the car is starting or operating at temperatures below 0 degrees C
