thats really reasonable bro :top: where did you send your car to?

B33mEr, you can get these prices from First Division or Inner Power but they only supply parts.

To find a mech who's willing to let you bring your own parts, you usually have to build a relationship with him first.

Majot Transmission Rebuil Cost

My contribution to this Thread.

e46 year 99/2000, 105K km on odometer.Non trip tronic
Sudden gear slips experience. Few days later, total lost of trasmission.

Gear box had to be fully rebuild. Took 5 days. Major parts changed are the full gearbox repair kit, used gearbox main casing ( with vertical gear/steps outer ) , washers and gaskets, filter , oils and a huge chunk of workmanship.

The number of parts changed came to about 30 plus pcs !

TOTAL COST : RM 3800 +

FYI, the few pcs of clutch plates have not reached EOL yet bt the physical damage is a crude 3 in diameter steel cup plate with all its sides grinded sharp. Few pcs of pressure spings were bent sideways.

Did not expect such failure in an E46 which is for family use and low milage.

Question is, am I the isolated case or there are others who had simular experience.

If you can isolate where the sound is coming from it may help. If from wheels then could be wheel bearing. If from Engine, I've had similar and it was the fan belt tensioner, however my experience was slightly different. If it was the fan belt tensioner, the high pitch screech came on when I started the car, after warming up (1 - 2 mins), the sound went away. The belt tensioner is not more that RM300 to replace.

could be your intake boot or d accordian valley (where it bends) that may have small air leakage due to small cracks ...
