worksheet prepared last nite by owner,so they are expecting me.
1 x 5 series on service
2 x 3 series (including mine)
a few mercedes
one or two korean make...in and out for minor checks...

petronas syntium fully synthetic 4 litre x 2 = rm358
oil filter x 1 = rm35
gear oil checked = foc
air filter = rm75
lower arm bush x 2 = rm270
press bush(?) x 2 = rm20
alignment = rm15

labour for servicing = rm25
labour lower arm bush = rm120

TOTAL =rm1093...

next visit (not enough time to do today...):
lower arm - 1 pair (rm560 x2)
engine oil sump gasket...}
steering rack (leaking)....}anybody got any idea how much are these...?

recon cost about 1k need to trade in urs
change a set will cost abt almost 3k not sure exact price

Hi Guys, my son bought a 318i E46 a few months ago and he left for overseas. I am now not too sure about the service timing and mileage. He used synthetic oil for the serice before he left and I am not sure which workshop. Anyone can assist?
1. Any recommendations on workshops (reasonable la - I am staying around Hartamas/Mont Kiara area)
2. How many KM intervals before we need to service? Some told me 10K some said 25K.. I am not sure now.

My other son would like to buy a 318ci year 2000. Is it advisable with 1.9 engine?

Check all the pipes for any leakages. Don't forget the ABS pump and its sensors.

Hi nurul,

I think what I meant with this statement is in response to kshapawi's post of buying a new car with only 3 weeks warranty.

I had a warranty on my car and it was for three months from the date of purchase but I took it for granted and didn't send for a check up within that period of time.

It's good to send to another workshop immediately after receiving the car from the dealer, as you are able to rectify any faults with the car. Plus, having a warranty is also a bonus.

As for yours, do you have a warranty? If you do, then you should send to other BMW specialised workshop and inspect the whole car. One of the most expensive items to replace is the ABS. So, do keep in mind to check that when you're with the mechanic. Once you've inspected the car, go back to the dealer within the warranty period and inform them of the faults to get them replaced. They will want to fix your car with their own mechanics so do watch how they work your car and make sure that they replace the items. Some dealers might also pay directly to your mechanic, after a negotiation.

Blew my e46 expansion tank today and decided to do few other things as well:

Expansion tank : RM220.00
Coolant : RM 30.00

Did those in the morning, stop at a shop and started the engine suddenly the indicator for malfuntion gearbox appeared together with DSC, ABS & handbrake light

Gearbox oil(6L ZF) : RM288.00
ATF filter : RM 85.00
G/box sump gasket : RM 58.00
Rear diff oil : RM 85.00
Car Diagnose : RM150.00 ( a bit steepla)
Labour : RM 85.00

Total RM 1,059.00. Wheel speed sensor x ganti lagi so DSC, ABS and brake indicator still on. Hopefully only the sensor yg kaput....not ABS pump. Now gear changing is so smooth, first doing it and my mileage is 87k km N42.
