E46 parts & maintenance

I'm new guys in this forum also in driving BMW hehe. Wahh... soo expnsive hehehe mine is e46 325i. every time i stat my car the indicator showed the remaining km to change the oil.

as today it show 95++ km left so when is the right time to do check up?? after it shows 5+++ km left or 1+++ km?? I'm at Sri Gombak so where is the gud place to go for check up?? I'm buying unreg BMW 2003 so how do i know I got the warranty or not from AB?? or i dont have any warranty hehehe

Usually wat a 'must' part we have to change every time we do check up?? the oil wajib la heheh other than tat??

E46 is pretty easy to maintain but she wants some pampering moments and could show you her bad temper as well. Hehe... Did you buy yours from Auto Bavaria? If you did, then I wouldn't worry too much. If you didn't, then I would suggest to send the car for a check up and service so that you'll feel better and you can keep track on the distance or time for the next service.

I don't think there is a 'must' part that needs changing for every check up. Just change whatever she needs and that's all. Since you're at Sri Gombak, then do join the Ampang TT.

Ampang TT is a meet up gathering for BMWCM. Basically, TT stands for 'Teh Tarik.' There is one this Sunday at Ruz Aladdin Restaurant, near Suzi's Corner at 18:00. It's called the F1 TT.

My car is a she. It's my beloved sweetheart, my darling, baby angel. lol...

Hey, theres another one independent BMW specialist called BMWorld situated at Desa Pandan. They're quite good in terms of servicing, check ups etc2 but their price quite 'so-so'. haha...if u got my drift. Overall their good. I usually send my car there. No problems setakat ni. They also sell original AC Schnitzer, Hamann stuffs plus BMW Sauber F1 Team merchandise.

And yeah, do join us Ampang F1 TT, this Sunday April 6. The more the merrier!! Come!!Come!! :top: Don't be shy. Ampang TT rocks!! :rock:

I will get my E46 318i 2.0 this tuesday. My loan just approved. The shop will just do a minimal service like oil change. I will force him to use Castrol EDGE Fully Synthetic 5/40W. He gave me 3 weeks warranty on the engine hope that you guys can advice how can I optimize this 3 weeks warranty to find the problem if there's any with my new used ride. What are the things that I need to check before I take my car out from the dealer yard.

Check all the pipes for any leakages. Don't forget the ABS pump and its sensors.

well man, im a new user of my japan 320i e46, received my car at 38k+, for inspection, there are 10ks left over, should i wait till it finishes or what? can anyone tell me any good shop in jb area or kulai?

or is it good if i go to AB to do my inspection to get a good view of how the car is going? and how to become official member of bmw club malaysia?

I just serviced my car .... ouch, didnt realise that prices of engine oil has gone up. Luckily mine uses only 4lt engine oil as it is a 4-potter.

And I also had to change the Valve Cover ....another ouch, very expensive (> 1k) ... this thing is made of some kind of hard plastic ... a bit ridiculous since it is constantly subject to hot engine oil covering the valve units on top of the engine block.

Since the engine block tilts a bit, any leakage due to valve cover gasket will cause engine oil to drip onto exhaust causing smoke in engine bay. Car is 2002 model .... had the gasket changed coz it leaked in Oct 2006. Now 5.5years old, the valve cover is the culprit of leaks and smoke in engine bay. That leak consumed engine oil over a period of 2months till today the engine oil LOW warning light came on.

That's a damn good offer from the dealer! During my shopping days for E46, none of the dealer willing to give warranty. Not even a day!

With 3 weeks of warranty, there's a lot to find out... An experience foreman would know a lot simply by doing a visual inspection. Test drive by an experience foreman will reveal even more! Jack up the car, check the under carriage for rust and damages .. bla..bla..bla..

If its a CKD car, u can go to any of the dealer to korek the car's service history..

But I really hope your dealer will keep to their promise of the 3 weeks warranty.. keeping my finger crossed for u..:smokin:

Yeah he promised me. But not sure. it's a CKD and with AB service record. Not sure if it's a legitimate service record. Will check with AB to find out.

The type is for e46 1.9l 4 doors. I think you should ask them for that. This is a inner power contact no 03-6251 7677. Cheers

well rakish, bought mine at 39k, but its ok, i did my service already yesterday (25th April 08), however, did want to service my 320i e46 in AB Johor, but they ask me for me for the 'geran kereta' before doing check-up and I don't have and i think its funny, maybe its the procedure. so, this w.shop in yong peng did a good job, will give a quote with things i did with the car later.tq

cermin sisi sebelah kanan (1 keping)= rm200/- (tercabut langgar cone at 200km/h, careful driving guys)
mobil 1 fully synthetic (2 botol x 4l)=rm200/-
computer tuning= rm40/-
brake pad (2 units for front x rm100)= rm200/-
