Bro azeL_Inc.
There OEM Germany / Taiwan parts especially hoses / plastic parts. I choose to use only original BMW parts for reliability and peace of mind. OEM top hose is about RM160-180, Ori Oil Filter is RM35 while OEM is RM25, BMW ori coolant is RM30, BMW Super Power Fully 5-40 is RM25 per liter

Yupp inside the vacuum pump there only the o ring to be replaced and they are cheap and replacement work is easy.

well if one is comfy with their own repairs can actually repair the o-ring itself..but mind you it took us 1 day to dismantle , change and assemble back as not ez to wiggle ones hands deep at the rear of the engine block.

total parts cost for the VP o-rings is RM15.

btw who needs a spare ? I give FOC...

I ve done some repair also last week, will share the details soon. But why u can replace oring for vacuum pump? Haha. I was told that vacuum pump leak, need to replace the pump, cannot change oring only. Hence changed the pump for rm600....got slaughtered? Lol

because dismantling and replacing the whole new unit is easier than removing internally...I've done this to both mine and AS's. Most mechs recommend changing entire unit coz they can earn more... :)

Thanx guys. Repair was done in Kuantan, as I m now in Terengganu. Not much choices of workshop that I can choose around here, that's why did it anyway, knowing that I'm gonna be overcharged. Not wanting to leave the car for repair, thus choose a place that I can conveniently go n watch the repair.

Wanted to give the workshop a chance, good to know that he s not being totally 'honest' to me.

Terry, what is the symptom of failed valvetronic motor?

Thank you.
First the car was moving as if its on first gear even when you press the accelerator to the floor and the eml light is on. The problem goes away after you switch off the engine for awhile. Later on the same problem reoccurs more regularly and you need to switch off the engine for a longer time before the problems go away. Then if you check the error code you get error about vvt fault and something that says power limitation

OMG I never knew that maintainance is cheap man for E46. I always had this thought that e46 is expensive cause of the age? BUT! This is like Phewww.... Looks like I can buy my e46 without any worries right guys? But the thing is I would like to ask is that what would be the major things to watch out for an e46 maybe around manufactured from 02-05?

I tend to disagree bro Siva. Some parts I think are ridiculously priced. For instance, power steering pump (ZF) would cost you RM1180 to replace excluding all the power steering hoses. Since it is a rather 'old' car, some major parts tend to get broken thus need to be replaced. Nevertheless, I still enjoy driving it.

That I assume is for N42? M54's PS pump is much cheaper at RM750.

Anyway whatever series the BMW is one of the most expensive car to maintain especially in comparison to the Toyota and Hondas

Yup but driving feeling is priceless. Even merc or audi or VW can give the feeling
