yes, price from BA, SS2.
Thanks for sharing bro.it would be easier to buy in 1 litre bottles as we can keep a bottle for spare at exactly a litre.

Thanks for sharing, bro. Will definitely get the BMW engine oil for my next change. :)

Wingzee,

Please research or find out more about this BMW Super 5W-40 oil engine oil. Pricing seems to be unbelievable cheap for BMW engine oil.

Will do! I did a survey and current market price is about RM40-50 per liter. Maybe BA clearing stock?

But based from my research, it's rated as BMW LL-98 and not LL-01 which may explains the cheaper price. Refer to eBay link: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Original-BMW...d983235#ht_2838wt_800&clk_rvr_id=487261836229

Gotten this from another forum:

to be brief, in german highway conditions, LL-01 has a drain interval of 30K kilometers, verses 25K kilometers for LL-98.

to be not so brief....

LL-01 requires full synthetic. LL-98 doesnt. LL-01 is equivenent to A3/B3, and is somewhere between SL and SM in terms of additive levels. most LL-01 oils are SM rated. LL-04 is like a GF-4 oil but with higher shear viscosity. LL-04 oils are to be avoided for performance driving or anyone who wants their engine to last longer.

LL-01 is thats called an XODI oil, for extended oil drain interval. with mostly highway driving its rated for 30000K (more like 10000K for regular driving, we dont drive to work on the autobahn).

as for LL-98, i suspect its more similar to SL specs, while also requiring ACEA A3/B3. SM has a certain max level of additives, and SL has higher levels. newer oils that say LL-98 do not mean they are not as good for the engine as LL-01, in fact the opposite is usually true, but they are worse for the emissions system.

Currently am using Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 Fully Syn and replacing at intervals of 9k km. It's rated as LL-98 according to this guide:

http://www.auto-treff.com/bmw/vb/showthread.php?postid=1197011#post1197011

LL-01 rated engine oils reference:

http://www.auto-treff.com/bmw/vb/showthread.php?postid=1114677#post1114677

N42, M54 and most engines are recommended to run on LL-01:

4 Zylinder:
M43TU: LL-04; LL-01; LL-98
M43/CNG: nur LL-04
N42; N45; N46; N40:LL-04; LL-01; LL-01 FE
W10: LL-04; LL-01; LL-98
W11: LL-04; LL-01
LL-04 nur vorgeschrieben für M43/CNG

6 Zylinder:
N52: LL-04; LL-01; LL-01 FE
M52TU: LL-04; LL-01; LL-98
M54: LL-04; LL-01
S54: SAE 10W-60

hi all, pls check below photo.... its LL-98
if my oil change interval is 9K, will it be fine ???

Got a quote from Mr. Siew of Munich Auto today:

E46 steering rack (ZF Recond) - RM900 (Discount of RM200 if old one is traded-in)

wingzee;818592 said:
A new recond ZF (Germany-manufactured) rack is RM1.3k, with 6 months warranty. The above is only 1 month warranty and is locally-recond I was told.

Just to share, the above was quoted by one of the workshops. Emailed ZF Malaysia today and was informed that the sole distro for ZF steering rack is Stuttgart Parts Centre, PJ.

Made a call to Stutgart today and was informed of the pricing below:

- Brand new original ZF steering rack - RM3500 (1 year warranty)
- Recond original ZF steering rack - RM1600 (3 months warranty with condition of trade-in of old one)

Wondering why the need of trade-in of the old rack. Maybe for the purpose of refurb and resold?

Today's purchase at BA Segambut

1. Lift Support Platform (5171 8268 885) x 2 = RM116
Mine E46 never have the 2 x Lift Support Platform (right hand sice) since i own it. Is time to replenish to avoid damage to side skirt when jack up the car.
Saw oversea BMW forum. Missing of Lift Support Platform also will incur unwanted "Wind Noise"... (not sure)

2. Side Skirt Clamp (5171 2234 032) x 4 = RM16
This is the consequences of jack up the car without Lift Support Platform. Side skirt clamp broken. Damage was done by the workshop..(luckily only the clamp is broken but not the side skirt).

3. Windscreen Washer Pump Strainer (6166 7006 063) x 1 = RM12
Found mine E46 have "very minor minor" liquid leaking since last week...."look" very similar to coolant...was traced here and there..up and down the cooling system also can't see the source.
Finally, last night the Windscreen Washer Warning light lite up...then i know the source ...
Take out the whole windscreen washer container...found the Strainer damange...need replace.

Already made appointment for next Monday to resolve the oil leak problem (front part of the engine)...another big pocket damage is expected...but as all the sifu said...UDM worth it

-Resolved engine front part oil leaking (valve cover gasket / U seal/ and bla bla bla parts)
-power steering pressure hose
-power steering fluid additive
-front right wheel bearing+hub+grease cap (resolved helicopter sound)
-Gearbox selector oil seal
-Labour

TOTAL RM716

Happy with the result ;-)
