E46 325 engine reving automatically while driving

Hi Sifus Hi i am newbie in BMW and would like seek some advice for you sifus out here.I having some issue with my 325 E46 the seem to reving 0.5 each time i am driving in constant speedFor example if i am driving around 80km...and rpm 2....the engine will rev up till 2.5 and drop automaticallyI have check and there some issue on the coil..and i have changed the coil..but then still the same issue...Please advice.Thank you,Lost in BMW workshops...

Bro, ask your mechanic to check the engine temperature sensor. When this fails it can cause the problem you mentioned. This temp sensor sends signal to the ecu. When this fails it reads engine cold then the ecu respond by sending more fuel just like when morning cold start.

Another symptom could be difficulty to start when the engine is hot. Engine flooded with fuel. You will also experience very poor fuel consumption.

If this is the culprit the fix is cheap. Some workshop will tell you all the possibilities but after spending a lot of money, then to find this the culprit.

that's incorrect cos i've had ICVs on my M50 and M52 engines cleaned and seen the same done for m54 engines.
