e39 vs e60

hi guys...just helping my friend to choose a car between e39 and e60.his uncle got a e34 which he plan to sell to him. but my friend intersted in both e39 and e60. but confused which one to choose. but prefer 2.5ccfor me, i like the e39 body shape. bold, sporty, tough, luxury all in one. but e60, is more like a japanese car style for me. more futuristic. fency shape. e60 = new popular song which will fade sooner or later.e39 = evergreen micheal jackson songim just comparing the interier and exterior only.(just My opinion) i dont know much about the performance comparison.need some hand to compare and choose. thanks.

I gotta agree.If your pocket is deep enough get both for good measures but I think we all know that he has to decide on one.For a start the E60 is about double the price of a e39 and I suppose there is more than 1 reason to that,don't you think?If you were to compare an E39 with say a Merc E240 of the same year I think lot's of us would be able to help but an E39 and E60...bro the choice is obvious if you have the dosh la.Whilst the E39 may appeal to some,you surely can't conclude that the E60 is very Japanese like,could we?The fact of the matter is vice versa.Case in hand,the new Honda Accord wants to be an E60 when it grows up(notice the wannabe similarities?).I have been a Merc guy for a long time till the E60 came into the market and I knew it was just a matter of time before I'm gonna pick one up.That's the kinda impact it had on me,All the while telling myself that the Merc is a better car...err till I drove an E60 la.The E60 in my opinion is the pioneer in what the call the cyber look.To be frank,I had only purchased the E60 and I know it's a little early to go raving about it but for know,everytime I drive it I have a grin across my face from ear to ear just like how you first discovered sex(remember?).The E39 was nice but the E60 is...nicer,You got the money,buy the E60.This is my two cents worth but I believe there are lots here who would agree.Please keep us posted on the final decision(no need to think too much la)...nuff said

i've driven the e60 before. took tht car as my friends wedding bridegroom car.it was 530i. was using tht car for two days. superb handling, high speed braking and power. (not to compare my e30)
really like the performing.

as for e39, i've driven about few kms in city. so not able to have fun with it. but i really like the look.

I've forward the feedback from this forum to my friend and ask him to make desicion. still his uncle offering him to take his e34. m50. 18" wheel.

and he aware the price difference between e39 and e60.

I simply love both. Both are UDMs for me. I've flown the e60 530i at 215km/h and boy nothing and i mean nothing (apart from another BMW) felt that safe at that speed. It was light, it was agile, it was fast, it was fantastic...you just simply wanna step on it more often that not everytime you start to hear the orchestra performing LIVE right out of the engine bay. Though the e60 530i has a lot lot more grunt than my e39 523i, but surely the e39 felt just as safe at 200Km/h. And i've to say the NVH levels on both the cars are about the same....LOW!

As far as looks goes, i love both their design cues. Absolutely striking. You can never get enough of looking and staring at it....even if it means for every 5-10 minutes. Just too dynamic at all angles.

If you want to buy E60 , make sure it is at least 525i.... last few months one E60 523i challenge my E39 525i....he can't overtook me no matter how hard he tried.. haha...

by the way, if you want more electronic gadget...go for E60.....

If power is concern get an E39 530/540:top:

Go for E39 540i if possible and spend the extra $$ for widebody (M5 mod)

If for every ride, then E60 523i is best. Too many E60 around.

Dunno lar maybe M54. I was on tiptronic. 1st gear E60 slightly front, 2nd gear I match slightly, 3rd gear tapau all the way until 140kmh hehehe.
My car engine already rebuild & port & polish the head:listen:
Actually E60 is good car also but I prefer E39 more due to driving feel. E60 active stereng is too light for my liking. Sumore I heard maintenance higher & less durable. Dunno true or not. Seat not as comfort as E39 & dashboard too straight
