E39 engine conversion

Dear all,

I have convert my current M54 520 to M54 525 engine. No modification and its just plug and play. M54 525 was from E60 model. After installed I feel there is a slippage in the gears and engine is rev highly but its like the gearbox being slow or dont know if its compatible with 525. The car seem to be little slower in highway. Not sure if the gearbox need to be change to match with 525 or by performing tuning will solve the problem or need to do some upgrades on the existing gearbox.
Need help please help....

My take is this. The torque converter isn't transferring the full power from the engine to the auto trans. Torque converter from your previous M54 520i is slightly smaller than the one used for 525i and 530i. I have a spare 525i torque converter and you can try it out if you want.

Hi Herbet...sorry for the late reply. The mechanic manage to source it the TC. It works well now...
