Hi Kay Zhen,
Are u saying that all E39s are also facing the engine oil consumption issue?

For the Voltronic, is it some kind of engine oil addictive or its a brand of the engine oil by itself?

Thanks ..

Regards,
JS

this is a recurrent problem for all our E39s.
no one is spared.
only the rate of loss is different.
i also went on Ravenol.
was recommended Voltronic but am skeptical.
costs so much more than Ravenol and other fully syn oils.
270/tin.
description : Voltronic fully syn multigrade Touring NA.
decided to try it when given a money back guarantee from the salesman.
put it in without flush or anything......
never looked back since.
surprising better low end torque and acceleration blind spot is nearly gone.
just wanna share this wonderful experience that no other oil change can give me.
not even with Ravenol.

yes bro.
i have the priviledge to own a second E39.
cos the engine is so powerful and hot, its bound to "eat oil".
Voltronic is engine oil.
i only tried it bcoz the salesman says if im not happy with it, i can drain all out and he refund my moolah!
the only problem is,
after driving the car for 500 metres, i decided to keep the oil.
i thought it was all in the mind but driving more makes the car even more smoother.
as far as i know, changing engine oil will never let u have the feeling of better torque!
its not cheap bro but its worth the try.

How much is the price? Where did u get it?

i'm having the same problem.

How do we know the CCV having problem? I have changed CCV and few hoses below manifold early this year at Jalan Ipoh coz of vacuum leak issue. I think my engine oil consume more after the change. I use Castrol or Shell 10/40 Semi.

in ipoh they selling for 270/ metal tin of 4 lit.
my mechanic also selling and charging 275 but no need to get full litres.
since our E39 uses 6.5, then they charge 6.5 la.
seems rather difficult to find in KL or PJ.
was told by my fren the contact number points to a factory.
u guysa can try.
hope it helps.

right bro, pricey.
thought i give it a go coz was given a money back guarantee.
i just did 2K but earlier on when i was on Bardahl, i had to top up 1lt at 3K mark.
guess i'll have to wait and see eh?
but then, im really happy with he smoothness and increase in lower end torque.
isnt this wat we E39 users are always looking out for?
better than having a super charger or other expensif "racuns".....

U were on which bardahl? Xtc? I remember the viscosity is 0w-40 right? It's quite thin and usually people will mix with its additives.

Bardahl fully syn.
yea, its quite thin.
my car often perform worse ( ie. pick up ) under hot conditions.
now, its consistently powerful.
maybe its the multigrade thingy.
any comments from sifus?

My personal experience with Pennzoil or Bardahl 5-40 Fully Syn rank 6/10 the followings are my findings

1. Engine is rough when pass 5000km mark
2. Lost about 1 ltr of oil per 5000km (I dont have problem as oil change is done every 5K for my Perdana)
3. Valves lifters are noisy during Cold start
4. Good FC
5. Smooth rev
6. Cheap (about RM90 per 4ltrs bottle)
7. Increase my frequency of oil change without much additional cost.
8. Maintain golden color till 4000km only darken after 5000km

Alternative : Castrol Magnatec 10-40 - RM 89 per bottle from TESCO

1. Quieter cold start
2. Only 500ml oil lost after 8000km
3. Maintain color till 5000km but turn dark brown at 8000km

Shell Helix HX7 is also a good alternative for older car

I love Bardhal it's cheap and does the job well ... It's bottled and distributed by Cycle & Carriage. Been using Bardhal for couple of years before and it's not a performance oil but i believe the oil durable and is good for 8k km interval.

Also C&C has raised the price now RM110 if i'm not mistaken for the fully synthetic 5w-40

bro, i've a supporter of Bardahl for years.
its not a bad oil but was told American classification of "synthetic" is quite dubious.
normally only grade III oil can be considered synthetic but American ones classify their grade II as synthetic.
not only that, Bardahl literage is not 4 litres.
its slightly less than 3.9
it goes by fluid ounces i think.
all in all, im ditching it for good.
normally i'd go for Ravenol which is also not cheap.
230 for 4 litres.
if this round my car dun makan minyak, im going to stay with Voltronic.
everybody says, even me,.....
how can an engine lubricant give u more torque and improve responsiveness?
till now i dun believe it but its true.
u guys can change once to test it out.
if it does not show, ditch it.
no harm
its still a good lub.
all the best.
if anyone tries it out, pls gimme a pm.
i'd love to know if it works with other cars and im not just "syok sendiri sahaja"....
lol....
