Hi All.Hope I can tap in to all the Sifu's knowledge with the electrical problems I have.1. Mileage trip meter resets to zero after every engine start (only trip meter)2. Auto gear lever shifter indicator (ie P R N D etc) light remains on after engine turned off and keys removed from ignition and all doors closed and locked -is this normal?3. After turning engine off and removing key from ignition, rear red lights will blink twice.Appreciate any inputs. Many thanks.

Do a diagnostic and reprogram the OBD software. This should sort it out or else look at the LKM(Lighting control module), it could be due for a replacement.

Hi All.

Hope I can tap in to all the Sifu's knowledge with the electrical problems I have.

1. Mileage trip meter resets to zero after every engine start (only trip meter)
2. Auto gear lever shifter indicator (ie P R N D etc) light remains on after engine turned off and keys removed from ignition and all doors closed and locked -is this normal?
3. After turning engine off and removing key from ignition, rear red lights will blink twice.

Appreciate any inputs.

Many thanks.

Bro,

Item 2, my car has only the P light on when ignition switched off. I suspect that is normal

Item 3, mine does that sometimes and goes off after a while. I suspect it is to do with the auto lock on the system. e.g. if I use the key to lock, this does not happen. When I use the remote to lock, it does. Not always, but has happened from time to time

Item 1, this one I have no experience to share bcos my trip meter is all blank!! Dead pixels and need replacement

Take the car to a trusted mech who knows electrics. If all else fails, take a drive to Albert's and see what he can do for you.

Pls keep us posted.

Thanks Kevster30. Will give the OBD reprogramming a shot.

ssmann,

OK so the 'P' light lit is normal after ignition turned off. Mine is exactly as you have mentioned. Pardon my ignorance but won't this drain the battery? (anybody?)

Looks like a drive to Albert's is imminent. Got lost last time, so might have to take up offer from Vincent for directions real soon. BTW, how do you plan to tackle the dead pixels problem?

Thanks.

Bro,

I'm not sure about the battery bit, but from my observation most of the E38 and E39 I have peaked into have the red light at P on. It must run on some other source......

Getting to Alberts is easy.....where do you live and do you know how to get to Kesas? If coming from Bukit Jalil/Sunway/Puchong heading to KL on Kesas, pass bye Jalan Cheras exit, take flyover and at the next left after the flyover make an exit. Follow the road and at the roundabout make a right turn. Straight down are a set of traffic lights with balai polis on right. Make a right turn and then immediate sharp left turn into the shops. Go straight and Albert is on the left. WP Auto. Call him if you are lost, tell him where you are and that u are friends of Vincent and Singh and he will come and get you.

Hope it all works out!!!

Extract from Jerman's posting;

WP Auto (Albert Fang 012-2017792)

Directions to Albert's place:
If you are coming from Ampang on MRR2, go past the overhead bridge that turns to Pandan Indah / Pandan Mewah. About 300 meters after the underpass, there is a turning to the left i.e. immediately after the block of apartments. Take this left turn. About 200 meters ahead you will approach a traffic lights. Steven's corner will be on your far left while a Used Car lot will be on your right.

At this traffic light, turn right. About 100 meter ahead there is an opening to turn left. (Opposite Balai Polis). Make a left turn here and you will be facing the side lane of two blocks of shop houses.

Drive through the side lane and you will see Albert's workshop on you left, corner lot.

Azman, I will be at Albert's this morning to check out on my sister's 318.
