okie okie :)

lets not split hairs over this dude.....racun king :)

I am not racun king.....just a cobra king !!!!!!! Targetting you now.

have you finished up your upgrade list........

2007 is coming ........don't tell me you aim for another baby !!!!!

LCP,

Give me details about your chip. Maybe I can help you out about this. I used to work to program the chip like this before. Maybe I can help you. FYI, my background is electronic engineering.

hi genius328i,

let us know if you can get hold of the mapping for the EPROM. i'm sure you know that programming it is one task, getting the program for the EPROM is another.

good luck.

Hi Genius328i, I would just like to make a copy of my chip (keep the binary file as softcopy) as a backup only, only problem is I don't have access to an Eprom burner. But now that the chip is already in the ECU in the car, a bit lazy to take it out again...

lcp,

I got one device that used to download and burn the program for the chips. But that one I used for program the microprocessor and microcontroller. I need to study about chip that u used before I can make any conclusion. Will update you again about this. I just dont want accidentally reset the chip. You know what I mean right?

Guys if got any input for this? Very interesting part for me to study about this. Any input will be appreciated. Thanks

hi genius328i,

generally the EPROM will be read-protected, for IP purposes. i'm sure you have heard of this before. if you attempt to read or even access the memory, it'll self-erase. i'm not sure about this EPROM from TI if they have that feature, but i know MCP has it. i downloaded a similar EPROM from Atmel and it seems that this EPROM is OTP. what i would suggest is to pump in the address and read from the IOs rather than to extract the HEX file.

my 2 cents.....

I thought EPROM memory can only be erased by UV light. Where else EEPROM can be erased electrical program..

genius328i, I suspect that the Hiop chip I have is a 27C512, quite a typical EPROM chip, anyway, it's a direct plug-in into my Bosch ECU.

OTP = one time programmable, it's a cheaper EPROM chip in the sense that it does not have the clear window for erasure by UV light, therefore can only be programmed once.
