Thank You Jarance.....
Thats the most useful advice so far..... Guru's here, need your advice... Does exhaust setups effect fuel consumption? Let say using bullet instead of the traditional center box or catalytic converter? What do you guys think....?
Uncle Jarance..... Thanks for the tip.... I was trying to work it out but cannot visualize it the way you put it... Very good indeed...
You deserve a roundel award.....

My 318i (E36) is about 8 years old. With a full tank I can reached about 520km mix town and highway. I even reached 600 km from KL to Penang!!!
Try send your car for fuel injector cleansing , ultrasonic! I sent mine and it is indeed very much smoother, more consistant and lower fuel consumption up to 560km.
Check out this website www.autochild.com! No point changing this and that without knowing how to maintain your car in depth!
Good luck!

I use almost the same method as Jarance, except for number 3.Originally posted by jarance@Jul 16 2005, 10:35 PM
For those who interested to find an accurate way for checking fuel consumption here is what you have to do:-
1. fill the tank to the full.
2. reset the odometer (or trip meter) to zero.
3. Drive around until your tank is almost empty.
4. When your tank is empty, fill your tank to full again.
5. Check the amount of petrol in litres that is required to fill to full tank again.
6. Check the mileage (km) that you have travel on your trip meter.
7. Divide the km with litre will give you your fuel consumption.
for those whose trip meter is in miles, just multiply by 1.6 to convert to km.
Should be around there lar for highway driving. JB to Melaka(204km) consumes about a quarter(16 litres) of my fuel.Originally posted by Kingrat@Feb 7 2006, 11:23 AM
E36, 318i, 96
Full tank RM97 (59liters)
H/way driving : 570km

Send your car to Auto Bavaria instead of sending to local /ordinary workshops that will cost you more. You thought of saving some cash by not sending to Auto Bavaria but believe me, AB is a specialist for BMW, approved worldwide, no worries wether they can repair your car or not. They never try an error on your car like ordinary workshops do.....and the worst part, you got to pay for their errors done on your car. BMW parts are not cheap, unless you have some extra cash to to give away...
