No no Mr Muffinz... Decided I'm not going the 6-pot route. Want to stick with 4-pot. If I cant find an M42, I'll turbo the M40.

And I couldn't adjust the nut behind the emblem on the steering wheel. Don't have the right tool to fit in there.
Bro zlurp, if you so decide or consider a swap to a 6 potter, welcome to have a look at my humble ride. The power to weight ratio is awesome, yet still stable aboe 200 mark. Mine is M52, but a M50B25 will do the job reallllll fine.
Any small TT we could start off for small discussion...didnt had the opportunity to chat with Mizhan also, who has lots of xperience with E30's.

It's been a while, but here's an update.

I bought the car in June 2011 (E30 M40 1989) and this is a list of what's been chnged:

Timing belt, tensioners, bearings
Water pump
Thermostat, housing
Alternator, belt
Power steering belt
Oil sump gaskets
Oil filter housing
Long shaft coupling
Front anti roll bush
Rear carrier arm bush
Radiator
Accelerator cable
Clutch slave pump
Battery
Rear brake pump
Rear brake shoe
Water pump + Alternator AGAIN!!

- up to here cost about RM6k, oh and also tyres.

and now, M42! She's currently in the shop changing engine, rear disc brakes, lightening flywheel. Next up is a stereo (I've been listening to the same Pearl Jam cd for 7 months), suspension, smaller rims and interior.

When I first got it

6K sounds TOO MUCH for the things you have changed, unless of course tires alone set you back 4.5K.

Question: how did you manage to change long shaft coupling?

wow m42.....can reuse m40 gearbox ? How much is the conversion ( engine + workmanship ) ?

KGB, I'll admit I'm not much of a mechanic, learning more about the car slowly. So I have no idea how they changed the longshaft coupling, I was told it needed to be changed so I did. I'm also slowly learning how much parts should cost too...

Bazet it's still on going and I'm doing some other mods so I'll let you know once it's all done.
