Isn't the M20B23 using the same block as the M20B20? It would be cheaper and easier to just get a decent B20 block complete with pistons and swap your crank, head, and engine number over to it.

If you want, you can change rings, bolts and bearings and have a like-new bottom end for probably less than what you'd spend on just one set of oversized pistons.

The above make a lot of sense.:top:

For me its all about how much a person willing to spend on their engine and what they plan to achieve. Each rout has different cost entails to it and a different set of potential problems. Complete overhaul rout is always best as you'll be restoring and using new parts but its sure costly. Do a lot of research and if you are not auto savy please tag along with trusted and seasoned enthusiest to guide you trough as it will definately save you a lot of time and cost. Please make sure you understand the rout and path you'll be taking and not been influence to the dark side. People will give you thier opinions as they find fit but you'll somewhet know what you plan to achive out of your E30. Just do it right, if not visiting the workshop would be part of your daily agenda
