Thanks alot !!if the price is cheaper by around 20% say , 525i @ rm 390k , getting a 525i at 320k is not bad idea! , or a 520i @ 260k if really depreciated by 20%

Hi Graffika,

You can check out the used 5 series at any AB outlet. Just for your info a brand new e60 m54 engine (197hp) you can buy for EM360 only. That model CKD 525i first rolled out around Aug 2004 and my guess is that you can pick one up for around RM300K now when it was RM398K when new. The new 525 r6 (218hp) is only going for RM408K, the 523i is RM348K and 530i is RM458K. I've seen 1 yr old 530d going for RM330K at AB.

Frankly if you ask me, AB/BMW is not doing justice to the 5 series resale value by discounting the 525i m54 engine down to RM360K. It is really damaging the already bad resale value reputation of beemers. They should have relooked into other ways e.g. repackage those cars by adding the m-kit and sell for the same amount instead of discounting it so drastically. Even at RM360K I hear there are no takers cos' people would rather buy the 523i which is only RM348K. However the 523i is only 177hp.

tested the 523i today, the sales manager insisted me to test drive it and compare it with the 525i M54 197bhp. the new 523i is smoother but not as powerful but great value at RM348K onli. for this 177bhp is enough for daily ride..nice ;)

general rule of thumb for buying cars in Malaysia... The moment you drive out of the showroom, knock a minimum 25% off the price you paid for the car and there you have your estimated resale value :) Sad but true...

Price for E60 are below 200k for 2nd hand now, since the F10 is already in the market. Been targeting the 530d and it's going between 140k to 150k.

Any place u would be bumping into one these babes?

I think AP cars 530i M-Sports are still going for RM22X. The LCI versions are still expensive though :(

A E39 2003 520i and E60 2004 520i price difference is HUGE, even though the engine is exactly the same..

That is good deal.. with almost 500 Torque.... that is RM300 per torque.. How is the maintenane for this car considering almost 7 years car mostly. Another 3 more years, will hard to get loan already. But definitely value for money...

Just wondering how would the prices drop when it hits 10 year old. Its already 140K now considering 7 years ago it was around 430K. Another 50K to 70K depreciation should be about right when it hits the 10 year mark considering what 10 year old E39 prices are today.
