Creating a UDM - manual conversion

This thread is to share manual conversion to a 2003 318i belongs to kby88, have fun reading!

Started by disassembling the dash as Bro kby88 requested to route the clutch line properly

Dash taken out, auto pedals

manual pedals

clutch line out on the passenger side

crossing from driver side

over the hump

the gang discussing upgrades

dash back in after clutch line is installed

checking out the components

preparing for the hoist

getting on the hoist

auto long shaft out

very clean gearbox

removing the atf line

autobox out, auto flywheel exposed

prepping the manual box

the autotrans

working on the reverse switch harness

auto shifter removed, shifting bracket in

 

[aidilj]

flywheel out

dual mass flywheel in

manual shifter in

putting the reverse switch in

clutch is in

putting in the manual box

lifting the exhaust back in place

Thanks aidil & arif for being there for the whole day.
Aidil, u r sooo fast upload everything,he.

Conversion started at 11.30AM, completed at 8.30PM.
We tried to do the conversion so it will be as close as to original manual car.
A few small showstopper, but we manage to overcome it.

To those who are still 50/50 in converting manual box, dont wait bro...go for it :top:
