E34 m50b25 vanos..

I think Bro Yap could find one for you from a very reliable source..I'd seen his half cut which is very low mileage and nicely cut for conversion, e.g complete uncut carpet & wiring!..all handled with very care...so you will have much leftover for you to keep for spare or put it back on market...it worth every single sen!!

wah, if like tat i better ask him first before deciding.

Do you have any idea the parts in my car now worth how much? i mean if i swap in the M50B25TU.

M20b20 engine, 10 months old water hoses, no leak at all.
gearbox (i think i will find a M50 gearbox, i dun wan senget la)
rear axle etc.....

Oh..that I dunno, me also got complete set m20b20(m) to let go, seem nobody interested lah..even e30 boys also use M50b25 nowadays...

if u dun know what to look for, dun buy the halfcut yourself. better to get a reputable mech to do the conversion. if anything goes wrong, its just one person to blame. if u do everything yourself, in the end of day, everyone will point the finger back to you. if you want cheap, be prepared to take the responsibility/headaches/costs. if lucky, u might walk away with no issues. if unlucky, u'll be spending more money/time that you budgeted for.

good luck morph/azhar.

ahhaaa happen to me with my 1st half-cut .... was nice outside and inside was guiness stout with milk ...thanks to Bluegreen motorworks for exchanging it for a better with the next one available ...lucky ada 2 unit only

so lucky i took the route via a workshop , or else bye bye and you may not be able to get any re-fund back ....i guess unless you know the owner of the potong kereta then lain cerita larr ....

with proper backing ie mechanics, shops, potong kereta, fat cheque book .. I have gone thru both approach (not front and back approach aa ...)

I will have to agree with Iceman and Lamsing

My halfcut S38B36 cost me ONLY 11K ... Thinking that i can save some money - i bought all the stuff myself. U dun want to know how much i spent in total !

The other project is the M62B44 conversion via workshop - .. less headache ... got to change the engine twice though but i was given a good complete car, at the end of the day.

Just sharing my experience .. Might not be applicable to all ..

ok thx all for your valuable suggestion. so, which workshop will you suggest, if u r the one doing the conversion??? just pm me ok, no need to write on here ;)

there are a few competent mechs in town that do conversions. however, the right one for you will be the mech whom you had (past tense) forstered a rapport with. otherwise you'll be setting yourself up for major disappointment.

hi guys, hope to hear some opinions on conversion (from auto to manual).

i'm currently looking around for e34 525i & will be viewing some cars soon esp. those with M50 & M50TU engines. foregoing my aim for e39 for now as i wish to accelerate my search for UDM experience.

most e34s (525) in market now is auto. if i wish to convert from auto to manual, what estimated cost range am i looking at?

also who can i PM if i need an experience ear when i'm ready to test drive the car i wish to purchase. house rule will apply.....teh tarik & probably kepak ayam on me?

hope you guys can share some experience...thanx in advance

with gearbox, clutch, flywheel, long shaft, paddle and clutch pump, i think will be ranging from 3.5k to 5k, depending on your source. i have yet to add the workmanship yet.

try your luck to find a Manual 520i 24 valves. Then you only have to deal with engine later (which is damn easy to find compare to manual kit), better yet, find one that comes with VANOS, better low to mid range torque.

Hey, thanx for your reply. In this case, i should b looking for M50B20 I6 engine? when converting to bigger cc engine later on i should b looking for M50B25/M50B25TU. This is gonna b just a direct engine transplant? gearbox, clutch, flywheel etc can still b used rite?

if that's the case, ya agree that could b a better route. Sorry will have to ask, if engine transplant to bigger cc, it will cost roughly 8-15K (with some buffer) base on what i'm reading in this thread?

with manual, you need to find engine, rear subframe (525i bigger than 520i), and rear differential (optional).

better find one that comes with VANOS. Coz the wirings of non-VANOS and VANOS are different.
Only find a 520i 24valves if it is Manual. If it is auto then no point, juz get a 525i auto directly (Coz you also have to find the manual kit).

Actually a 525i 24V VANOS with auto 5-speed is adequate for average use already (can tapau many stock cars already)... go test drive one before you making decision.
