hi, im currently driving a manual E30 and changed my clutch bearing last December and now the clutch is making sound (klak klak klak) again. my question is, is this normal in E30? Im asking this question is because i've heard that E30 is famous for jerking vigourously during low speed due to the AFM, therefore during these low speed, i need to depress the clutch to prevent it from jerking. DOes anyone have the same experience?I've also heard that there's lots of imitation parts for BMW, is this the reason? if so, how much is the original clutch bearing?By the way, can i change to better transmission fluid such as Redline MTL to reduce the Klak klak klak sound emitting from the gearbox? ThxChris

mine has the clattering noise when the gear is in neutral and clutch not depressed. the noise goes away when i stepped on the clutch pedal.

i have the same sound too whenever after i engage while releasing the clutch too.. i think is quite common on E30

Mine oso got the sound...I kept changing the clutch and the bearing. But finally found the culprit.

Before that my car was at to well known mechanic..they installed the clutch "terbalik" mahai....!!!

Then ,I changed the whole clutch assemblies ( Clutch and the pressure plate), the clutch bearing and now...??no more.

but then again...our problems might not be as same as yours.

My E30 oso got sound ... bearing problem.

My E34 oso got sound ...

Live with it lorrr ....

what about if we change to good transmission fluid? for example Redline MTL...can it reduce the sound abit?

it has nothing to do with the tranny oil..tranny wears usually creates whining and humming sounds..not "klak klak" sound.

Have you check the clutch fork..the one thats holding the bearing??

Zogge no wander your car can go so fast:D . terbalik install !!!

Mine have no noise now (touchwood) but sometime jerking when low speed during gear change is happen, I tought is due to the clutch release timing.

the noise is from within the gearbox... slight freeplay... noise more apparent when the engine is hot...

noise would go away when I try to apply partial force as if to push the gear stick into the gear slot without depressing the clutch pedal.. this slight 'push' reduce the slack in the gearbox and that stopped the noise..

wrongly installed clutch or racing clutch creates judders...not shaking.:( by changing clutch alone won't eliminate clutch clip.Chnage the whole clutch assemblies might helps. break it in...!!:D run it in ...!!:D prime it...!!:D haha...!!:D

jerkiness is due to tuning....not clutch. :(

check ur tuning, throttle cable, the spring tension of your throttle body. accelerator cable freeeplay...not too much, not too tight.Throttle position switch( faulty or not) and the air slide valve for L jetronic, Idle control vale if motronics. Check the CO emmision by machine...not by smelling. If possible check whether your engine is running too tight or too loose...and valves clearence too.:D

talking about jerkiness, my pedal is very stiff and have to depress quite hard to accelerate, big possibility is the throttle cable? btw, how to adjust the spring tension of the throttle body? Where is the throttle position switch btw? thx

TPS is a black squarish thing under the throttle body. The spring tension..??? trade secret....pay homage to Dark Lord of PNDC.:D Then I'll tell.

where I do this....muahahahaaaa!!!!!
