Dear all, Any of you made any claimed for windscreen before. Would like to know if the insured amount of RM3K is enough to cover screen, rubber, tinting and workmanship? Any of you done before and care to share the process. Mine got 4 spots and start to see crack line movement.

What car? Check on your policy makers if they only allow their panel workshops to claim, if not please pm me, got good stuff for you.

Macha! Dun tell too many la. Let me do first.. hook me up please, must do within next month le.. :(

WGT523, how long was the crack, the windscreen repair price is drilling to end the crack with filling RM120, every inch is RM10. I repair a 7" crack earlier this month, cost me RM120+(7xRM10)= RM190. Save the RM800 windscreen VKool, insurance premium, potential rust after replacement, potential leak after a shabby windscreen replacement job, plus down time for the car.. worth it ma.

Get a good workshop that do only windshield replacement I did mine in taman tun. Job was good. But found out he was trying to cheat the insurance company by claiming that he replaced my V kool Elite which he didnt. The insurance asked me to produced reciept for the V kool tint. Insured sum 3K. Found out the windscreen was only rm1k if you buy from Sec 19 PJ. meaning the shop owner is making RM 2K.

all shops do it la, esp those cibailang DR.Chermin flers. thats y the best is to check with your insurers if non-panel can do, pay & claim. Then we continue to get on with life la.

Bro go look for DR. Cermin in puchong behind Tesco. Herbert and I did ours there. Just bring copy of Insurance, IC & driver's license. Depending on what Insurance....

I got mine done there with VKOOL tinting on the front wind screen all for RM3k. Wind screen original with rain sensor.

They will do the claim and you do not have to pay a dime.

VKOOL for front Wind Screen is RM600 - RM700. Wind screen is about RM1800 with Rain sensor. Estimated

Dr. Cermin in Puchong is highly not recommended at all. I had my windscreen changed sometime in November 2009 and experienced wind noise on the top left corner of the windscreen. Got my mechanic to look at it and was told that the placement of the windscreen rubber seals are not correct.

Went back to Dr. Cermin the next day and they agreed to have the rubber seals on the windscreen changed. Took them 2 weeks to order the seals for me and had to constantly chase them.

Finally got it done and no more wind noise. When i was leaving for work the next morning, i saw a 6 cm crack at the bottom right of the windscreen. Went back straight to Dr. Cermin and all they can tell me is it's not their fault and they can help me stop the crack from getting longer by treating it. Oh yeah ... and i have to PAY FOR IT! I wouldn't have been so pissed at Dr. Cermin if they would have done the treatment for me for free. The crack is easily 15 cm today

Puchong Sunway Auto Glass Specialists Sdn Bhd is a better option and they are located at the same area as Dr. Cermin Puchong. No young punks installing your windscreens there.

Address:-
23G Jalan Bandar 12, Pusat Bandar Puchong, 47100 Puchong, Selangor

Rm2k is enough for E39 windscreen, MSG glass + rubber lining + installation (some shops even give you tinting)
Rm3k is enough for E39 imported/ori BMW windscreen + rubber + installation

However these days, insurance companies may not necessarily reimburse you Rm3k even if you installed the ori BMW cause of the age of the car. Similar to when you claim accident, can go for used or OEM, local parts which is cheaper than ORI.

Actually, the windscreen is cheap. Installers earn almost 100% because if there's a problem you go back to them and if poor installation the windscreen cracks, they still can afford to reinstall for you, if no problem, then of course they truly earned the $$ as there is no rework required.

Dear all, this is why I love this forum..... full of honest feedback.

Called Kurnia and was told to visit nearest Kurnia office for reporting and photo taking. Then I can go and find own specialist windscreen installer to fix this and claim accordingly.

Will have to find time for this but guest it is worth it..... will go for replacement since it is time to replacement windscreen rubber - harden and pilling off and I got a torn tinting as well. Puchong Sunway Auto Glass Specialists Sdn Bhd will be my choice.

Bimmer 73, bro, you mentioned of 'windscreen with rain sensor'... what is that ? My is e39 523 1999 and currently I don't have this feature... can it be added in? plug and play concept???

Cheers mate.

Bro

Some models comes with rain sensor. It's not plug and play cause it wired into the system.

Cadmus Tqs for your feedback and sorry to hear about the hassle you faced hopeully others do not face the same problem anywhere else they choose to go. At least we know what are our options.
