Want to change the following on my car soon:-a) 4 pcs of brand new tyres for 205/60/15b) 4 pcs of brand new shock absorbersAnyone using Michelin XM1 and Primacy LC before? The latter seems to be more expensive but I heard it performs better. Any real life experience? Currently using Michelin XMV8.Which one better? Boge oem or Bilstein black? Price wise? Read thru a lot in the forum but still blur :p sorry~Can't decide which to change but definitely have to change them fast.

Go for the Bilstein's black and go for XM1. Else, try the Bridgestone AR10 or BF tires.

Thanks Elwine, just got a quotation from my tyre shop... RM270 per piece for Michelin XM1 205/60/15. The price seems ok, not too expensive nor cheap (within my budget) I know I can get it cheaper elsewhere but I have an obligation to buy from this shop coz I know this uncle for some time :) and somemore he is helpful and honest most of the times.

But b4 changing the tyres, have to change all 4 absorbers 1st. Bilstein black is gonna fit and match perfectly for the original coil springs right? Will ask a dealer in Segambut for best price since he distributes original BMW parts.

Thanks~

Russie, I am keen to change the abs for my 'on the way' E36 to the Blistein blacks. Are these also code named B4? Called a few shops and none of them have these. If you manage to source it, do let me know where and if possible how much. Thanks. :top:

Not sure if they're called B4 or B6. Didn't have the time to source for the abs, will do it once I'm free and keep you posted then.

Changed all 4 tyres on 13/2/2010 to Michelin XM1 205/60/15. Price was RM270 per piece and the tyres were manufactured on week 46, 2009.

hehe but i have "donated" them to the workshop :) probably the mechanic is drifting with the MXV8 at nite?

I'm using E39 and having the same tyre wear at the side. It is very common to have this. What you need to do is just drop by any tyre shops every 15-20k km and ask the to remove the tyre from the rim and flip it. No symptom of tyre uneveness so i think your absorbers are still ok and luckier than me. How is the car when you take cornering and driving at high speed let say 140km/h above?

I have just change my absorbers to BPH Japan and its better than bogee and bilstein in term of handling and stability :) they also provide 6months warranty.

The tyre wear is considered normal since they are evenly worn off...Cornering and driving at high speed? like riding a sampan (before i change all absorbers + lower arm bush)

BPH Japan? wow...whats the price?

Bro,

I was introduce to this BPH absorbers by Ah Meng (owner of Ban San Motor Works) when I doing my car body kit paint works then later went lepak at Mspeed Subang Jaya (Ah Meng workshop) and KS Soon Subang Jaya (Ah Soon) they also give me good comment. I also being told that the people from BMW club are using BPH airflow and the performance is better and lighter especially on the E46 (1.9 & 2.0). According to Ah Soon, the airflow is better than Bosch in term of response time and better drag. The Air flow was supplied by Ah Soon.

I didn't changed at the first place but later Ah Meng bring me to this absorbers and Airflow meter factory at Bangi then only I purchase 1 sets of absorbers and performance airflow meter/ mask from them. They will install the Performance airflow for us and allow us to test then later place back our airflow and i really can feel the different. If no different hehe they don't charge us. Importantly it cost RM 400++ only with warranty compare to Bosch no warranty.

On absorbers, they have the "damper tester" machine to test and simulate absorbers characteristic when the car moving on slow, medium and high speed with different road conditions (rough, bumpy, etc.). It's like a Dyno Machine which able to test a car horsepower at Sunway. Surprisingly R3 (Alex Yoong) team also using this facilities to test their absorbers. According to the people down here, the machines cost RM2million. :) I beleieve it because I'm an automotive Engineer and going to get my IR soon. The machine able test and duplicate others absorbers characterictic/ performance (i.e. bilstein, bogee, etc.). I bought mine here during their launching when they simulate the Bilstein vs their BPH absorbers. The graph shown 98% similarity. So far I have no problems and the others friend of mine with E46 318ci and 320i also have no complaints. E39 Front RM360+, Rear RM310+ and E46 (my friend E46 Ci) Front RM250+, Rear RM170 :) just call Azmi to confirm. :) Enjoy

:) Importantly it provide us the warranty of 6 months and money for value and quality.

I spend the whole working day lepak there. Anyway, for more you just visit their website or bring some absorbers to test at their facility. www.bimachgp.com. That's what I did before i buy mine.
