Jazz jazzz..... I must share my Bob James/David Sanborn, Dave Grusin, Eric Marienthal (Kenny G can balik la), Najee, Sadao Watanabe etc..... Maybe tomorrow we can relive the 80s.

And on Lindsay Lohan, she is just amazingly sluttish but I like.

Oh yeah....there's also Cassandra Wilson....pretty cool....not mainstream but ....

I think a lot of people went through a sanborn, spyro gyra, mezzo kind of phase but eventually went on to pop and top ten stuff after a while coz they are simply more 'accessible'..... anyway, they kinda began to sound the same after a while..... among my faves then were Sadao's Orange Express..... pretty cool back then....

Now....dropped everything and have gone on to typical top ten drivel..... not concerned about pressing quality osso....pirated oss can.... sign of the times I guess.....

I am going full circle now :) but in a different manner. There is this chap that is reprocessing my CDs into CD-Rs for me. Amazing sound.

... but still very much shit difficult material to listen to... bought this one particular album bcos of glowing recommendation in stereophile... stoopid farker...

mary black and nanci griffith me like... every now and then go through their albums...

for mary black, me recommend:
- by the time it gets dark
- without the fanfare
- babes in the wood
- no frontiers (audiophiles dig this album)
her albums well recorded...

for nanci griffith, me recommend:
- last of the true believers
- lone star state of mind
- other voices, other rooms
lain-lain don't dare to recommend... still nice but not as easy to accept as mary black...

Erica......Mary Balck No Frontiers...... thats a blardy good un isnt it.....very listenable too....yeah most audiophile quality pressings have lousy music dun they.....call me unrefined but I prefer Kylie Minogue myself  ....

But Mary Black No Frontiers is different .....must buy ...."fat Valley of Pain" is excellent......

Nanci is not bad either :)

Does anyone remember Tanita Tikaram?

no frontiers is good but i enjoy her other three albums listed in my post more (wrt playtime)... tanita tikaram after that twist in her sobriety terus karam no story...

here's what i currently have in my changer...
- barenaked ladies (gordon - their sharpest and bestest! so witty you'd think they're gay)
- metallica (garage days revisited - so farking what?! hahaha)
- mary black (babes in the wood - listen to her and say your prayer for love)
- erasure (the innocents - gotta give them a little respect man)
- songs from japanese drama (album mastered by doug sax from sheffield labs)

share-share a bit what you're currently listening to lah...

Erasure????? Dude, I like your taste. Want some Bronski Beat andlater Jimmy Summerville stuff? How about The Smiths?

the smiths are ok (got one of their 'the best' album) but not into bronski beat or alvin signing like some queer guy is squeezing his balls... i swapped metal out for some cutesy baby pop over the weekend... m2m (shades or purple) is now in the changer...

my latest cd i bought over the weekend - IL DIVO..
check it out, they're probably the new age tenors! :)

keeping topic alive...

picked up a couple of emi fujita albums (camomile extra and blend) over the weekend... just checking her out since she gets a quite a bit of mention by someone here... song list looks interesting, all familiar materials... unfortunately, arrangements and her presentation don't work for me... but i'm sure the recording quality is impressive like those snow rose type album... audiophiles dig them...

but did find a gem i'd recommend (recording quality should also be wonderful based on her other albums - can't tell for sure since doing my listening through notebook)

port of call - silje nergaard

brgds

She is definately good. Remember I played you a few tracks in my car? There is this other CD by a Mainland Chniese girl...quite good. Let you sample whenyou are back. Btw, are you back?

picked up DURAN DURAN Greatest Hits .....import CD EMI in Singapore during Communicasia....... i feel like I'm back in my dorm in Cheras....damn *bad visuals*

Duran Duran - alright man jipster! I'm slowly picking up 'the best' and 'the greatest hits' albums by familiar artists from the 80s and 90s. Don't listen to them a lot but would still like to have them/listen to them once in a while if only for nostalgic reasons. which dorm in cheras? shamelin perkasa?

wj, still spending time at tehnichi? making up for lost time eh... that's the problem when u go straight from stock to where you are... most people would've gone through a few rounds of upgrade...

emi fujita is just ok for me... small things, e.g. her style of signing, pronunciation, don't go with the celtic music theme on that album... turned out like the album title... background music for camomile oil type soothing calming feeling... compare her take on 'once in a very blue moon' with that from mary black and nanci griffith... or 'the water is wide/moon river' with mary black... or 'from a distance' with nanci griffith...

found this shop with heaps of chesky titles... got to get some ana caram...

You must try this Chinese singer dude. Btw, are you back from the "Land of Hello Sir"?
still here in the "land of hello sir"... but "hello! hello! garci!" more popular lately... hehe... don't know whether will get to see any street action...
