Hi all, I just got my e46 325.I'm experiencing the opposite problem. When the gear down shift at 1,500 - 2,000 rpm,i felt a slight jerk and the rpm rev up slightly. Just change the gb harness sensor. The problem still persist. Any sifu habe similiar experience.

Ade, what do your mech say it would cost to change the torq converter?

If not mistaken, he says its less than RM2K..

Melaka..seong hoe auto...

oh ya..i remember him telling me this is a new version of the torque converter. If you use back the same version, you will get the same problem again years later..

Yours is different. He did mentioned the E90 gearbox should not have this issue.

I have experienced the same problem on my E90 320 N46 early this year.It shudder/jerk at 1500-2000 rpm between 20-40kmh speed.Car feels struggling to build up speed at this rpm range.Above that, car can be driven as normal and the gear shift is rather smooth.Firstly suspect cause by low ATF level since got my ATF heat exchanger leaked. After change the ATF heat exchanger, the problem still persist. Went for a GB diagnose at Mscope Bt Caves, found out solenoid failure. Service the valve body (Mechatronic) and changed all 7 pieces of solenoids. After few programming sessions, the problem hidden for a while. Now it came back and I don't know whether it is related to GB issues or engine. Now i am trying to recall whether the problem started when I changed the ignition coils and spark plug. Could it be a wrong spark plug or as what Jarance said I should check the fuel pump.

A few things I could think of. Try these:

1. Clean the inside of the ignition coils. Use compressed air to get rid of the carbon that's build-up on the inside. Check your plugs also to see if the top connection is lose (the metal piece that contacts the ignition coils).

2. There are several hoses in the engine bay. One of them maybe leaking.

BTW...how old is ur car and what's the mileage?

Bump into this thread while looking for solutions to my problem. Had the same jerking/shudder issue around 2-3k RPM while cruising in 2nd and 3rd gear. Thought it was a one-off incident but it happens more frequent now. When it jerks, RPM went erratic (going up and down). If I let go or step more on the pedal, the jerk is gone. And it only happens when cruising at speed around 30 to 50km/h, nothing beyond that.

Have not seek Optimum's diagnose on this yet but may do it this weekend. Thought of going over to M-Scope tomorrow.

From what I have read, it's likely to be torque converter? Anyone knows the price for a new and used TC?

Thanks for the advised.
The MAF sensor is already cleaned using CRC MAF Cleaner, and my spark plugs is new.

mind asking..where to buy CRC MAF Cleaner in KL/SEL?
