Thanx guys.. not really interested in 3rd party tuning as I'm planning to get a new car with 5yrs BSRI.

hi supergripen,

Vector or tuning box is 100% reversible and not traceble at all by the diagnosis equipment. So, for warranty claim, all u need to do is just removing it in 10min and everything back to stock. no wire cutting or what ever. that is one of the advantage of tuning box.

The Vector is awesome! Who needs a 335i now?

Haha, wait till you use your souped up 320d for a few months then you'll be begging for more power and that 335i will look reaaaaallly nice :D

Trust me, I'm there right now :D

First time I've seen someone comparing the 320d to a 335i haha... aaaaanyways;)

So Gameover, urs is the 177bhp variant as well? Can u share with us the tune's end result? Final numbers, driving impressions and torque curve etc
I'm actually contemplating getting an X1,but with stock figures the car really doesn't excite me at all as the new Q3 offers more.So I just want to see what a tuning box could do and how the Vector does in the long run without the supporting mods as per the BMW Tuningkit.

Hi there, mind sharing the Vector's origin and numbers post tune? Is the map generic or done on the spot with individual cars? Does installing other supporting mods affect the tuning/map? Price?
U can pm me TQVM.

OK,read the other thread..have some ideas now regarding Vector. But would appreciate some more input tho.Thnx.

I'm using DTUK, not Vector. Slightly different tech where it's attached to both the common rail sensor and turbo sensor. By default the box comes with 4 maps, each with a different goal (low end torque, high end hp etc) and each map has 7 settings from -30% to 0% to +30%. I'm currently on map 3 (low end torque) +10% after trying out the different maps. It improves drivability significantly IMO, the pull is there but a lot more across the rpm range and more punchy. Having driven a tuning box and powerkit 320d back to back, I can say that the powerkit delivers power in a much smoother way, your butt won't feel it but the numbers don't lie.

I've not done a dyno yet, but it should be inline with the Vector dynos ie 200+ hp and 400+ Nm. My iPhone says the car with map 1 +20% does 0-100km/h in 7.1 seconds, quarter mile in 15.1s at 152km/h on an unofficial track :D

Thanx for the prompt reply bruh.. yup,I just noticed that u're not on Vector after reading the other thread,my bad.
But all the same, good to know there are choices out there other than BMW's Powerkit, which is not available on the X1.I've actually tested the 320d plenty, and was quite impressed with the car, even with the stock 184bhp/380Nm.Reason I'm interested with tuning is cuz the X1 is heavier and also has more friction/mech loss thru the Xdrive system.
Another interest is of the engine's heat management and how the gearbox is coping with the extra heat/power/torque.

As u know I have a tuned 335i without other accompanying mods, and with more than 500Nm of torque, the cooling system and also the gearbox software is indeed struggling to cope.So IMO a tuned turbo needs the accompanying mods as I've mentioned.

The 320i 325i 320d and 335i all use the same gearbox. I did do the manual gearbox reset and the shifts are much smoother, however I hardly ever go beyond the 10% rating.

I think cooling is definitely worth looking into, but I've not had much chance to really investigate this. If you have suggestions I'm all ears :D

Not sure if this helps. During the powerkit briefing at quill, the tech specialist has specifically mentioned that the 320d 184hp versions come with the new uprated torque converter by default whereas the 177hp is still on the older one hence the reason why the powerkit was not available for the latter.

I guess the 184hp version should easily take the extra stress from dtuk or vector in its stride. However, wuk51 may prove this assumption wrong as his long vectored 177hp engine internals seems up to the task too

BMW makes both power kits, one with torque converter and one without. Why BMW Malaysia decided to bring only one version in is beyond me. Based on realoem however, the part number for the transmission for both cars are the same but I assume the BMW technicians know more than realoem.com :D There's a reason why these tuning boxes have different settings so that you don't go beyond the capabilities of the transmission :D

wuk51 has a 184hp car no?

wuk51 used to have a 184hp car.now 200PS,450NM hehe

without torque converter is for the manual version, torque converter is for the autotransmission
